People are really stupid sometimes. It's also easy to check firearms with your luggage. Just follow the rules.

I think some people are reckless when it comes their carry firearm. Too easy to throw in a back pack or brief case and forget it's there.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I have never thrown a gun in a backpack or brief case and "forgot" it was there.............but then we do have some truly stupide people among us.

Purses, back packs and brief cases...this is how these f'n idiots are getting caught at the check points..."I forgot it was there". Exactly what the clown in SD said. I was 6 ft from him. It shut down the entire TSA check point for 45 minutes. Very few are "intentionally" putting firearms in the carry-on bags. I agree on stupid and add irresponsible to the post.

From the TSA website...ouch! LTC holder may beat the criminal charge but you're going to pay the man for sure!

I think some people are reckless when it comes their carry firearm. Too easy to throw in a back pack or brief case and forget it's there. Happened to my B-I-L in July. (Midland airport) Running late & grabbed a backpack he hadn’t used in several months. Luckily my nephew (his son) is a Sheriff Deputy & he knew the officer working that day. Allowed him to call son and pick up. Avoided a giant nightmare.

I've done it, on a checked bag. Long story short, complete negligence on my part. I was humiliated, the TSA guy in charge and the DPS Trooper at DFW were very understanding and went out of their way to make it as easy as possible for me to take my pistol home, surprisingly American Airlines also did a bang up job to rebook me on a flight later that day. I felt like a total dumba** and had always considered myself a responsible gun owner. That $800 fine was just a good reminder to be much more careful.

My PSA is to never ever mix or comingle the usage of carry on sized shooting gear with traveling gear. Unless you are going to check baggage then follow those guidelines.

I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

I still travel to a lot of the world but have already been many times to various places. Less new to post about. These days I send younger people. At 57 it’s harder on me, the level of international travel I once did. Have got about 5 and a half years until retirement from professional life. Working on training the next generation. Retirement though, will not be a life of leisure, but rather a move onto the next adventure.

My son got stopped at MAF with back pack that had a 1911 mag fully loaded. We had couple issues but he made his flight minus the mag, they said I could come pick it up minus the ammo...told them to keep it since wasn't one of my Chip Macormick mags.
