I've been using UPS for many years shipping ammo and rifles to customers. UPS is now requiring ALL firearms to be sent to an FFL, regardless. Legally, a non-licensed person could send a rifle to an FFL and that FFL could send the rifle directly back to the owner. Now, UPS is saying that any "Firearm" must go to an FFL. UPS has also required my company to create a second UPS account where firearms MUST be shipped through that account only. They sent out a UPS Compliance docusign document to be signed. I will most likely be looking to FedEx now (and I HATE FedEx)!
UPS prohibits the shipment of Firearm Products except from licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, and licensed collectors (as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code) to (i) other licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, and licensed collectors or (ii) government agencies. 3.2 Notwithstanding the foregoing Section 3.1, where Shipper is otherwise in full compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and UPS’s requirements for the shipment of Firearm Products, Shipper, as a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector, may tender Firearm Parts (but not Firearms) for transportation to a non-licensed individual or business
Defined Terms: Capitalized terms used and not otherwise defined in this Agreement will have the following meanings: 2.1 “Firearm” will have the same definition as set forth in Title 18, Chapter 44, and Title 26, Chapter 53, of the United States Code. 2.2 “Firearm Part” is any part or component of a Firearm that does not by itself meet the definition of a “Firearm.” 2.3 “Firearm Products” means Firearms and Firearm Parts.

Yup!
As a non-licensed shipper I've had the best "luck" with the USPS. Shipping Priority, I can usually get a "Pkg" anywhere in the CONUS within 3 days.
For pistols I use Primary Arms. Last time, they charged $25.
ya!

Just dropped a stock off at the local pack and ship. UPS was the least expensive option. Hope it makes it.

FedEx has the same policy but an exception where a customer can ship a firearm back to the manufacturer.

On top of that, the UPS stores are privately owned. The one here in Georgetown will not ship anything gun related. I was mailing a scope I sold on here and went there to ship it. They asked what it was so they could put it on the insurance and when I said scope, they told me they wouldn't ship it. Owner specifically says no guns, gun parts, ammo, etc. will go through his store.

Think of all the lives that will be saved because of this. Think of the data base FFL's will have to build for the ATF to pick up when ever they want the information.

Don’t believe everything you read in an article. I’ve been posting about the common carriers not shipping firearms for non licensees for more than 2 years. This is nothing new.

Lately UPS has been making our life at Wilson Combat hell and many of our dealers report to us that UPS is refusing to ship guns for them. We are switching to FedX over this.

What about shipping ammo, any problems yet? No problems. UPS said to use my normal shipping account. But ANY firearm products needed to go through my second UPS account.

Because ammo isn't a firearm product....morons. This is what happens when politicians and people that don't know firearms get involved in making rules.

I'm surprised the wise azz has not come along and said...."well don't tell them it's a firearm". "Insure the machine parts".
Let me know how the claim works out when they lose or confiscate your package. You will get zilch and like it.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I shipped 2 rifles over the summer via USPS with no issues. The UPS and Fedex routes were way too much work.

shipped a couple of barrels here awhile back wrapped those bad boys up, you could have dropped them out of a 747, dragged them down 30 mile of country road. still would have been spot less asked me at the counter, what are you shipping my reply was, two steel tubes.

imagine being in the spot of being a common carrier in this political environment.
You have a tandem trailer packed with $800K+ of insured product from a couple hundred different shippers in that trailer and one of several US Government agencies halts and holds your entire shipment to confiscate and log as evidence 3 "ghost gun" or "machine gun" products they are now targeting.
hundreds of pissed off customers, shippers and receivers.
It's happened a couple times that I am aware of with one of the giant retailers mentioned in a previous thread on this topic.
At it's root it's a lot less of a political stance than a business security decision by UPS.
It'd make a lot more sense to be shaking internet fists at the real culprit.
