I just ordered a new Ruger mini 14 Tactical with flash suppressor, I own several mini 14s and 30s and know they aint the most accurate, but I love the old military feel (I am an old soldier) do any of yall have one, have shot one? I know one thing, when you got a s### load of hogs in front of you at less than 100 yds. they will thin the herd but good.

Did you get the one with the folding stock?

Nope, I got the regular stock, I am the old fashioned kind, used to the M14 in the service (when we could get our hands on them) it comes with the flash suppressor, 20 rd. mag. cant wait to get it, dont know if I will scope it or use open sights.

The one I got came with the folder with the rails, I went back with the regular stock also. I have four brand new still in the factory package 20 round Ruger mags if you are interested in them. I have only put about 120 rounds thru mine but I am impressed with it. I have an older mini 14 that I got back in the 70's and it shoots bucket of angle instead of MOA.

I got plenty of magazines, some factory some ProMag that really seem to work, how much do you want for them. you might list them on www.texasguntrader.com stuff seems to move pretty fast thru there right now. I hope to pick my mini 14 up this week, I got a 24' camper (20 year old) that I used on my deer lease that I had that if I sell I am gonna get me a M1A1, I know there is a waiting period of about 6 months and it will cost me about $1750. life is short and I believe the SWHTF sooner than we think. I do believe we are gonna have to fight for OUR AMERICA soon.

I will most likely just keep them but who knows some one my bug enough to sell them. I have plenty of magazines for my mini's any way, have you ever heard of Thermold magazines? I have some of the 30 round ones and they work great! I got a RRA AR in 308 about year and a half ago and I like the crap out of it. Got it from a dealer over by you. Always wanted a M1A1 could kick my self in the rear because in the early 90's had a chance to get one at the right price and did'nt. And a I also think that in the near future things are going to get hairy my wife thinks I am one of those wierd o's and I may be but it is better to be prepaired and have the stuff and sorry and not have it.

I think you will be surprised how much better this rifle shoots compared to ones you've owned in the past. Ruger slightly altered the gas system so the bolt moves rearward a little later, thus helping accuracy. I also had read that the way they use to put on the front sight caused some barrels to slightly bend, so they changed that as well. I am a weapons trainer and our dept uses the minis. The new ones have really helped the accuracy achieved from our officers. I don't know if I like the new rear sight. Its definately more rugged than the crappy old style! I would like to buy one of the 580 series myself, but the price of them makes me wonder if I shouldn't just buy an AR-15. Theres so many after market parts for the AR and even the cheapest AR would probably shoot as well as a MINI. Don't get me wrong I love the mini-14, I just wish they were a little cheaper!
