Never heard it said, but I have to believe ugly rifles and ugly hunting dogs can have one thing in common - They've both helped their owner take a lot of wild game. So rather than creating yet another chance to share photos of fancy rifles, how about sharing a look at your most beat to hell rifle that has taken more game and critters than you can honestly remember.

All I have to offer is a Savage that some say is one of the ugliest rifles you can buy. I'll agree the wood stock leaves much to be desired but it seems to look more attractive with these two piney woods rooters in the background.

Bonus points for cracked or chipped stocks, paint, and/or duct tape.

I love Steyr. I had a Steyr SBS Forester in 300 win mag. I should have kept it.

Thinking about a Steyr scout with a 1-6.

Love this rifle. Had a crush on them when they first came out with the spiral barrel and the "rolling" safety Dealy.

My Ruger 77 tang 25-06 was bought in rough shape. It’s not the ugliest thing out there but it’s for sure the most beat up firearm I own. But it has never once failed me. When it goes bang animals crumble

I have an ancient Swede that out shoots me. But, I’m older than it is.

I can’t take credit for this one, but when reading the thread title this rifle fits the bill. The person is Phil Shoemaker; master Alaskan guide, world hunter, and bush pilot. The Rifle is a Mauser in .458wm w/original sporterized stock.

Could be wrong but something tells me that isn't an expensive, variable-power scope, rings, and bases under that self-made cover. The cover looks like something he made from an old tire tube. No fancy trademarks on his clothing either.

Like it. I'd take that one over most of the others mentioned here so far.

Yugo M24/47 in 7.92x57mm. 125 yds with irons. Not really ugly, but definitely not pretty.

In the pic is a 20 year old Savage 300WSM. Pre crap-u-trigger era. Topped it with a Redfield Revolution scope, tuned the trigger to a crisp 3lb pull and it shoots 180gr Winchester ballistic silvertips stupidly well. 20 years ago it was all the gun I could afford, and it's turned out to be all the gun I ever needed with an office full of mounts to attest to it's ability. I let a buddy who was learning to hydro-dip practice on the stock and scope, hence it's snakeskin look these days. I've got so much confidence in the rifle I can't ever imagine switching to something else.

In addition to the aforementioned Swede, my numero uno deer and elk gun is a butchered 1917 Eddystone Arsenal 30-06. It’s been in over a dozen states for deer, antelope and elk. My close up deer blind and walking hunter is a pre 64 Winchester 30-30 or a 7.7 Jap.

I probably have a dozen WW1 and WW2 rifles. They are all shooters.

Boat paddle Rugers are hideous but highly collectible. I had a 308 boat paddle in the 90s.

That stock pack is hiding the most hideous part.
