Good luck everybody! If it’s anything like the last draw (9/1), then we’ll know by lunch today.

Drawings have started. Looks like National Wildlife Refuge, Gun Deer-Management, and some E-postcard have drawn. Still a lot of Gun-Deer to be drawn according to my status page.

Good Luck indeed. I put in for 6 hunts, and got skunked on 5 of them already, but scored a 2nd round attempt at Kerr WMA. If I can get drawn at least Kerrville has got some good places to eat & sleep....or they did in the old days when I was repping and in Kerrville 4 5 times a year.

So manana' I'll start hammering the phone to see if I can find another desirable place to see if they think that they'll have any StandBy's to try for on Day One, within reasonable drive times.

Ya'll have fun ...'cause it's only the same game every year. Need to change games and see if I can score some megga bux $'s and go buy a place of my own or anywhere I want to go. Always wanted to live in Kerrville.
Ron.

21 yrs of points in Gun deer and zero draws. Guess they aren’t really points since I’ve statistically drawn with 7pts or under more. Ridiculous.

Myself + kids each went 0/121 as of todays draws (includes previous month draws) ... like wow... Not holding out any hope for the remaining 48 random draws on the three future dates...

well played TPWD ... you got some new applicants, who didn't realize the draw/point system was designed to excessively favor long term participants and bend new applicants over, to give you money... very well played... enjoy the donation... it'll be the last one until the system is changed to something that at least remotely resembles something that is fair to all applicants. ... it's not often I get scammed but you got me! well played.

Congratulations to everyone who did win something, enjoy your hunts!

Yep, the odds are so stacked against anybody without a ton of points that I would never encourage anyone to apply for the first time.

Try the Texas youth hunt program for your kids. Free to enter, appx $150 if they’re drawn. They favor new comers.
TYHP.org. They do need to complete hunter safety beforehand.

I hear ya, but I figure if I start now, then it’ll start paying off down the road. Pretty minimal investment at $3 an entry. I’ve only put in the past two years. Last year I drew a waterfowl hunt and a few weeks ago I drew an e-postcard archery deer (either sex). I always buy an APH permit, so I go ahead and apply for the e-postcard hunts since they’re free to apply for after that purchase.

Those selected get 10 days to confirm. Anything left open is redrawn out of the remaining pool

Some of the folks on here AMAZE me. So much talk about how horrible our draw system is and then when a lot of folks do get drawn, they start asking questions about the place they got drawn at. (Is this place any good, etc.) I see so many questions about when is "so and so" category drawn? How did you even apply? Did someone else do it for you? Look at the system, do your homework. The most desirable places get "tons" of interest & applications. If you're looking to "just get drawn", apply at the places that don't get many applications. As these drawings are very limited, you can expect to wait a while "normally" before you got a chance. But the good thing about this system, as compared to other states is that it does not go strictly off of points. I have been in the system for many years in Arizona, trying to draw a quality Elk tag. I know these things don't come easy, therefore, I'm going to have to wait. Here in Texas, at least our draw system is very similar to a raffle, in that your name goes in the hopper just like everyone else. Depending on your # of preference points, you get more "raffle tickets" in the pot. But at least you still have a chance, even with a low number of points. I guess I just don't understand people that play the system, without knowing how it works, and then want to complain about it. Grow up! You want to talk about long odds, go buy a lottery ticket, or go pay for a deer lease! Pardon (tic), just had to get that off my chest.
