So finally got my Dead Air Nomad suppressor. Anyone use the KeyMo or Xeno adaptors? Any feedback, especially versus direct thread?

I've played with a Nomad w/ Xeno. It's better than DT because it holds onto the can better and is reverse threaded so you don't unscrew the can from the DT mount. It's (maybe) better than QD because it's much lighter than keymo or other competitor's mounts.

Buuuut I don't really think it's enough of an advantage to pick over one or the other. It's a weird middle ground.

Thanks.

So would you say go away from DT, or is it acceptable? Not sure how much unscrewing may happen when shooting.

I don't have anything that's not DT...I've seen three cans go down range, that too many for me to use a QD.

Edit - I have a Nomad, you're going to be very pleased with it. Congrats.

I like direct thread. I don’t like tolerance stacking, and that’s what you get with adapters.

DT is how I have everything. Seen too many ruined silencers from QD systems.

At least with YHM you save a little length and weight going direct thread.

I've used a few different QD set ups and recently converted to DT. Too many times I had the QD muzzle attachment/adapter come loose while shooting. I never tried Xeno though, but I think the Suppressors seats on the end of the rifle so much better without an adapter. I have two dead air cans and they are amazing!

I’ve shot thousands of rounds out of my YHM and it’s never loosened. Yea a bunch of them I would not trust but YHM is good to go on the QD mounts.

Yeah, there is good QD and bad QD. SiCo's mounts are on the bad side, Dead Air and YHM are on the good side. Very easy to use, no false lockup.

Direct thread can be good if you are okay with taking a little more care to make sure they're mounted solidly. This means either checking frequently, or just using a wrench or thermal differences to lock them onto the barrel. I do the first for low volume shooting like bolt actions, the latter for ARs & similar. I witness mark them all so I can tell at a glance whether they're coming loose.

if you are a sporting clays shooter with extended chokes, you are already in the habit of checking they are screwed in properly. It's kind of a habit formed. I do the same with my DT Omega 30.

I use the Xeno with the threaded flash hiders with my Nomad on my evil black guns. They work well for me.
That being said... If I had a dedicated can for a dedicated rifle, I would go direct thread.

Same. Plus added cost and weight...there's only disadvantages to QD, IMO.

I have and like both. If you pushed me into a corner, I’d say qd on an AR and dt on bolt guns.

Love my Nomad-L, I swap back and forth between DT and QD. No issues with either,

I have a Nomad as well and use the KeyMo adapter and QD muzzle devices on 5 different rifles and have used the can on all of them. Has worked flawlessly so far. The only issue I have had with it, once at the range I overtightened the can onto on of the qd mounts and it got carbon locked. Dead Air has a you tube video on how to get the can off if that happens using wrenches supplied with the can.

I have a Dead Air Sandman that took that Keymo crap... It went down range.... Dead Air fixed my mistake, but this dang thing will spend the rest of my life in the safe.

Nomad TI in jail right now... I'll never own another suppressor that isn't direct thread.

Unless they changed something the Nomad comes as direct thread and you have to add the KeyMo piece to it after the fact, so you can always try it both ways.

That is correct. A salesman tried to push me to get the Keymo/Xeno, but I passed for now.
