That is awesome. I really want to do this trip in the near future. Was it your first time, or did you already have an idea of where to go and such?

Thanks fellas. This was my 3rd annual trip up there this year. I did see a rattlesnake on my first trip. The heat is the main obstacle to deal with on this trip. You usually have about 2-3 hours at daybreak and then the golden hour in the afternoons to get a run in. The landscape is beautiful and unique to this area of the country. It’s nice to have the option for dove and teal also to mix it up and give the dogs an occasional break on a long trip. It’s intimidating at first looking out across a sea of grass covered waves but after a while you can start breaking the habitat down. I’ll be headed to North Dakota as well the end of October.

You all could swing back through Eastern Wyoming and get in some pheasant, sharp-tail and gray partridge hunting. Pheasant opens Nov 1. Not near the hunting up farther North but we have some birds. Chukar over by Thermopolis.

Hunted northeast of Alliance about 15 years ago, not far from where Mari Sandoz is buried. Did some fair work on the sharptails and had a great time. I really took a shine to that country and would like to go back.
