Anyone been on the youth hunts or any hunts at Colorado bend state park? Is it compartment style hunting? Do they have stands or do we need to bring pop up blind? Baiting allowed?

Bring a pop up. Baiting is allowed. Just found some info online. Says corn is no longer allowed has to be processed feed for livestock.

we did this hunt last year. It was terrible -but it was so hot! they just weren't moving. I think two deer were killed and a pig. I've heard its feast or famine there-plenty of folks that have had good hunts there. I hope you get them on a good week and its cool out. I would try to get area 1 by the entrance or right next to the camp area.

Baiting has always been allowed at bend I just checked the draw hunt listing same as always "baiting allowed" there has never been cows on Colorado bend. There is one compartment that has aoudad sheep nort side the entrance I believe I always see deer by the fish cleaning station if you could hunt the hill above there I'm sure you could find a doe. The whole place has some big bucks it is super thick and they are supper smart I noticed they have recently cleared some cedars out on the south side of entrance area might be a good spot to see a larger area. Compartments are huge this is a very large remote park bend tx has a general store/bar Lomita, Lampasas, or San Saba are 40 min to hour away. Be careful have fun watch your step and watch in front of you lol we missed a big buck because I was looking left the kid was looking right had a monster tour tail right in front of us 🤣 back into the thickness he went.

It says baiting allowed but also says they changed to no corn only processed feeds like sweet feed and other livestock feeds.

Hello SnapperTitan,
Congrats on the upcoming hunt. Please read my thread on Colorado Bend State Park from 2017. Even back then the staff recommended "horse and mule feed" over corn. We were overwhelmed with animals that year. Hope you get the same conditions.

Both of my daughters shot bucks last year. We hunted compartment 3 where the ranger station is. It is a big compartment so there is plenty of room to spread out. Pull up an aerial view of the park and try and find a clearing where you can see a little ways. It is a fun hunt and the park staff is very helpful. I will dig around and see if I still have my map of the compartments.
