Traditionally speaking haggerman has been responsible for many trophy deer. At one time the largest non typical to ever be taken in Texas came from it. It’s either not what it once was or people stopped talking.
I drew 11/18 -20

...." Ah Yes"...most likely people stopped talking about the "monster's" in Grayson County" and have been pushing hard to make WT hunting Archery only again...if TPW hasn't already gone back to Archery Only rules.
My old Realtor lives down the road from the RR crossing and used to tell me about stuff she had seen on HER property just to watch me grind my teeth since I've never been into archery...Oh Well! that was then and we don't live in Grayson county no more. I see more dead deer hit by vehicles on the local pavement here in Anderson County INSIDE the City Limits than I've ever seen anywhere. Imo ...IN Grayson County you are better off hunting with a good long range camera IMO up there west of the airport..so's folks will believe you really did see what you said you'd seen. Ron

What ? I don't know nothing about the area was just asking for any input Sorry. Historically Haggerman has been very sought after due to large frame genetics in Texas. State record status. There are some very deer in there. Very large hogs too. Hunt daylight to dark and with a little luck and skill, you will go home with a smile on your face.

Fixed sir. I’m about 35-45 minutes from one side or the other of Haggerman. Put about 4 hours in yesterday. Cool place with everything this region has. From native grass prairies, hard wood bottoms, mesquite flats. Did put my eyes on two booner cotton mouths. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/09/full-3834-362261-4c8ca404_59cb_4d7c_876d_6bace3d6cf2b.jpeg)

You ain't seen cotton mouths until you see them climb the round steel posts that support a boathouse roof ...to get to the eggs and chicks of the swallows that nest in the perlin steel roof frames ...One year I counted over 40 snakes in and around my boathouse....and God Help you if the area above the beach is holding rainwater in the chest high weeds. Go down to the water at the Elks Club in the spring time but some years you better being wearing snake proof above the knee boots.
The guys who participate in the Catfish Noodling Contests up there have got to be lots more crazier than I am. We lived on Shoreline Dr for 11 years, facing the water above the creek bank....where I got bit by a fist sized tarantula so bad is the VA Doc had to cut the bite out of my leg to get it to stop swelling and squeezzed it like a half dollar sized pimple to drain the venom. Or one year I had a nest of cottonmouths even in my AC compresser and the repairman had to borrow a 22 to clean out the nest, when I would not let him use the 410 shotgun he carried.
We miss Texoma and oak trees sometimes, but I've got Dead Pine Tree problems 'cause these Pines don't have any tap roots to keep them from falling over or getting sucked out the sandy ground by a tornado - been there too from the Pine Beatle borers lots worse than anything Texoma threw at us ....FWIW the going rate to take down a mature pine tree down here starts at $1k only if it hasn't hit your house or out buildings, ....except for the tornado one year at Texoma that sank my boathouse 5 others in my creek and the next year the 2nd Tornado that ripped my boat house free to float 5+ miles down the lake one year or the next year beached the boat house 100+ feet back from the waters edge on the wrong side of the creek in the flood water , or a 100+ feet north towards the Elks Club on the my side of the creek on dry land.
Water Front Developments at Texoma are like Rose Ann RoseAnna Danna It's a Always Sumthin Country up there for sure. Go Find Shoreline Drive and mebbe you can unnerstand what I'm sayin' more Better....and visualize a 5 boat house creek instead of the monster sized 650? boat slip development across the water just south of GranPappy's in the Little Mineral Arm. Oh by the way....there is gonna be 3 hotels/country clubs & 3 golf courses to go with all the boat house slips on the east side of Little Mineral Arm ...all of this has been voted on and approved by Grayson County, directly across from the Elks Club T Dock. My boathouse is/was was in the small creek to the south from the T Dock. Tax Money talks bigtime. Bon Apetite!. Ron
