I absolutely love new production 1911s. One of my carry guns is a Dan Wesson Vigil CCO. It's also the gun I keep by the bed. Earl What can I say? I do like 9mm and I love me my 9mm high caps too (but not in 1911 format)...maybe it's cause it's an affront to John Moses Browning or something He could have made a 9mm 1911, but instead went for the P35 which was and is a damn fine pistol, just no 1911. No thanks. A 1911 should be in .45 (maybe 10mm)...PERIOD. I have absolutely no use for a 9mm 1911. I'll just stick with my Dan Wesson 1911 and when I want to kill a bunch of crap my 15+1 FNX .45 Tactical. Them be real pistols. Now if they chamber this in .45 and give me 15+1 capacity I'd be half interested but at that price, No. The FNX .45 Tactical was "only" $1k and a Springfield Armory Elite 5" Tactical with 15+1 .45 goodness is only like $600. You can't even run a suppressor on that thing. Nope...No thanks. **ANGRY BOOMER NOISES**Are modern 1911’s in 45 ok? Or just the 1911A1, like God and JMB designed it?

The guys at Ruger be like “Crap, we’ve been farting around with this carbine that nobody asked for or cares about. Why didnt we think about a 2011 guys?!?!?” They put out a double stack competition 1911 but discontinued it pretty quick not sure why.

Im gonna hold for a bit and see what variations they come out with. I was thinking about a Staccato C2 but if Springfield makes one similar for $600-$700 cheaper, thats alot of ammo $

I think I need the 4 1/4' version.
If you watch Coloin's video, he let it eat! Almost sounded full auto. That's some good clean American fun right there! I was kinda surprised how much he gushed over the Springfield considering he did the exact same video for Staccato but actually drove to Georgetown to pick up his pistols pretty recently. Did both manufacturers make pistols that run? Give me two or three, or four brands of rifles and they all run, and I will gush over all of them.

Looks like Rifle Gear has some inventory.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I’ve been shooting a RockIsalnd 2011 for a few years now and love it. For the $600 paid for it, it’s a great gun. I’d love to get the 5 inch Prodigy, 9mm 1911’s are just fun. If I want a 45 caliber, I’ll just pick up the LC or XVR

I'm generally in Earl's camp of wanting a 1911 to be in 45...but I've also really been wanting to try the Dan Wesson Pointman 9mm. These high-capacity 1911s really have zero appeal to me though, and I LOVE 1911s.

I do not want a 9mm 1911 or a 1911 that holds eleventy three rounds. But I also don't want a 1911 in stainless, with a magwell, with a giant beavertail safety, full length guide rod, or ambi safety.
Also would never pay that much for any Springfield.
Pass the gravy.

Wow, I like that alot and $1499 MSRP for all those features is pretty dang cheap compared to some of the other 2011's out there.
Might need to sell my 1911 and upgrade. Same here. My EMP in 9mm may go on the chopping block to obtain this. What a fun range gun this would be. But I'll wait until it drop's below MSRP.

Definitely nothing wrong with Springfield. Heck they are beating the pants out of anything Kimber is putting out.

Kimber.... Are they even relevant now a days? I remember when they did put out a good product (pre-2008, 2009). I had a TLE that was nothing but a jam-o-matic pistol. It went back to Kimber three times before I gave up and sold it.

They have a bunch of them at Scheels so they must sell ok, but I really think its uninformed buyers thinking that Kimber is the gold standard. I actually heard a guy steer his friend away from the ”tacticool” Staccatos to a “tried and true” Kimber. I just shook my head.

Hopefully I'll be pulling one out of the safe at Rifle Gear tomorrow with Springfield's promotional giveaway. I'll let you know how it shoots.

I prefer for things to "evolve and get better". Just think, we could still be using rotary dial phones hanging on a wall with a 20' cord. YMMV And having face to face conversations, people watching where they walk, working instead of chatting or surfing the internet, you know, like ******* used to be, when you sat on the porch with your grandparents shelling peas

The old days we saw them maybe once every 1-2yrs, now we’re one Facetime click away from seeing them live. I work with 100s of people face to face everyday, few of which Ive ever physically shook hands with. All possible from evolving and getting better. Hell, there wouldnt even be THF if we wouldnt have evolved. Its nice to reminisce about how good the old days were but people are quick to forget how good we have it now. Want an old school 45acp 1911, no problem they are still available. Want a new school 9mm 2011, more options now than ever. Want to research or debate 1911s vs 2011s, sure you have plenty of forums to do so. Pretty damn good times right now.
