My ziplock brand sealer died. It wasnt great from the start.
Any suggestions? I like the idea of customizing the bag size vs buying certain sizes.

We use a food saver brand. Does about 4 deer and 6-8 pigs a year. Haven’t had any issues out of it for the past 4 years.

The Food Savers just didn't hold up for us, about 5 deer, 4 hogs, 100 pounds of sausage, 50 fish, a few batches of jerky, and a bunch of misc stuff a year. Their customer service is great. They will send you a new unit, no problem. We never had one poop out, we just had to fight the seals all the time. But I know many people that use them and are happy with them. I am a lot happier with the Cabela's Pro Series unit. It sucks down without the aggravation. My brother has some high end commercial looking machines with vacuum chambers, they are awesome. I do not need to spend that kind of money for a vacuum packer.

I like food saver and buy the bags on a roll. Just cut them to the size you want.

Food saver has been good to me for years. Seals are easy to Replace. I replaced the seals on my original food saver after about 10 years. Upgraded to a new one 4 years ago and haven't had to do anything but use it. 6+ deer/pigs per year + some fish.

So tired of going through Food Saver and Cabela's so called "commercial" line. Bad seals and then waiting for the heating strip to cool down - the lower expense is not worth it.
Vacmaster Pro 360. Actually on sale right now for $299 and well worth it. This past April, I sealed 200 pounds of dried sausage (two to a bag), breakfast sausage in 8 oz packages, thirty links of fresh and , oh yeah, 30 pounds of hamburger in one pound packages - all without skipping a beat. I believe I am now three or four seasons into mine.

I bought a cheap Nesco about 3 years ago to try out and it has not broken down yet. Note: I am NOT a heavy user. I seal/freeze portions from bulk and reduced price purchases and I do some Sous Vide cooking, so it gets used all year. I use 11" wide rolls.
For long life storage life, my chest freezers maintain -10F to -15F. While -5F and +15F are both "frozen solid" there is a dramatic difference between between them when looking at food lifespan. I'm sure that everyone here already knows that foods held below 0F can be safely eaten after several years.

I've burned up & cussed at a few Foodsaver packers until I quit using vacuum sealers for a while. After some research I bought a Potane brand from Amazon for $150. Good reviews & good warranty. Been great so far. FWIW... Potane Vacuum Sealer

I've always had good luck with FoodSaver, the only reason I upgraded from my older one is because one plastic clasp broke so I had to push down on that side for it to work.

I've had a VacMaster VP for over 12 years now. It's a workhorse, but it's very heavy and takes up a lot of space. I have a dedicated butchering area in my garage, so no big deal for me. Expensive and you'll need to search YouTube on servicing it, but we've absolutely gotten our money out of it over the years.

I love my chamber vac because of the ability to freeze wet stuff. Stews. gumbo , etc. I figure it will pay for itself because the bags are so much cheaper , and the ease of freezing left overs.
