I was hunting in an area where not much was expected. Had a lot of cotton on. Found a comfortable spot in a mesquite tree which I had deftly climbed into. I found myself thinking about all the great advice I have gotten from the many good hunters here on THF. All of a sudden, I noticed some movement and deer started pouring out of everywhere. A big buck started moving in and I was caught quite off guard. I started to position myself for it when I noticed an even larger one coming from the other direction. Could not believe my good fortune. I began to maneuver towards him to obtain a better look. Got in position and then noticed that, somehow, a monster had miraculously appeared right under my nose. He was within 20 yards of me and had no idea as to my presence.

The long rifle I carried also converted into a bow and with an opportunity so close, I decided I was going to stick an arrow in this bomber. Got the switch done and was getting ready when I fell out of the tree. The big buck was so close I saw him laugh before turning away to avoid what almost certainly would have been his death. Upon his exit, he jumped a colossal behemoth that I hadn't even seen. I still had time. I picked up my weapon, but it was in bow mode.

Here's where I woke up from my nap, refreshed and excited.

I have found loose fitting clothing to be not only comfortable, but also help you to ward off the cold. I think those skinny legged fancy pants you wear may well be cutting off your circulation leaving you more vulnerable to the elements. I bet Yankee Buck shivers also.

I still have meat on my bones, I couldn’t wear skinny jeans if I tried.

I don’t even wear jeans very often because they are tight in the thighs

I had the common forgot about classes until finals and don't know where the classes are, and, I also knew I had a dorm room, but had no idea what the room number was...dream... last night. And my last class was, now, over 40 years ago. 'Course, I think I finally tore the rest of my left rotator cuff yesterday, hefting a bucket of pig bait up onto the tailgate (after getting the last few feeders going - put out 21 bags of corn) and, I may, or may not have, had more than one martini that evening. As I was lifting, I heard "crunch, crackle, crunch" in rapid succession and instantly had a vision of my own mortality, along with a fair modicum of instant pain, which is still continuing. Later that day, I still shot within ~3.5 inches, off the sticks, at about 95 yards, with a .338 Win., 'cause I'm gonna kill me a bison in a week and a half, and, you gotta get back on that horse when it throws you.

'Not quite sure I'm ready for the season, but I'm definitely ready for cooler temperatures.

I knew where this was headed when he said he “deftly climbed a mesquite”.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
