I’d like to here about having a deer lease out of the state of Texas? No state in particular.

What was the experience like? How did you go about getting tags/licenses? Did you get to hunt every year or able to get tags every year? Was it worth it or just more headache than anything?

Would you do it again or just hope for a good draw tag or save up and pay money for a outfitted hunt?

When I lived in FL, i had a lease in GA. Getting tags were as simple as buying an out of state license. It was worth it because FL deer hunting basically sucked. Now that I'm back home, I hunt in TX, but I also have a place I hunt in OK. Again, getting tags is simply buying the out of state license. It's ridiculously expensive. $300 for rifle, $300 for bow. Plus the same for my boy. It's worth it because I don't pay to hunt the property. OK is so expensive, I wouldn't hunt there if I had to pay for a place to hunt and pay for licenses.

Same for OK. It is very simple to get deer tags, just buy them online. No hassle at all. For some, out of state is closer to anything good in state.

About six years ago I looked at two hunting clubs in Arkansas, and also one public area. At the time, the going rate to join a club was about $400 - $600. I ended up finding a TX lease, and did not pursue it further. The drawback to Oklahoma is the short rifle season, and the expense of the license. I had some friends who had a lease in Louisiana, and said it was similar to East TX. If I was looking now, I would learn more about Arkansas. If you are thinking about a state that is far away, a hunting package may be a better option.

I hunted White Tails on private ground with a muzzle loader in Nebraska for several years. Rifle season is super short so never did it(a week or so). Was super easy to do and not expensive at all. Hunted pheasant hard on public ground.

It was a great experience, and a culture shock during their Winter for this S Texas boy. Got my license on-line, printed it out, was fast. I hunted every year until I couldn't anymore, easy peasy.

I'd do it again in a heart beat. Not the whole being married to a Husker thing, but I'd love to hunt that State again. Big deer and nice people, but freakin' cold.

lots of guys in my area used to lease in Mexico. Some still do.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I lease and own land in Missouri. Significantly cheaper than Texas. Deer are bigger too. And the whole lease is to myself

I will always drive farther for a better experience. It sure sounds like you found it in Missouri!

Never hunted out of state. Was looking at Oklahoma a couple years ago, but after adding my boy's out of state license fee along with mine it wasn't worth it.

I really wish Texas would out of state license fees!

I had a lease in OK for a few years. Like others have said, the license costs are the downside. To hunt archery, muzzle loader and gun seasons is $900 in tags. And compared to Texas your seasons are shorter. So if you get a lease there it needs to be cheaper to be comparable.
