I have been waiting for it to cool off a little bit so I could clean out my shop and re-organize a few things and throw away other things. Today was that day banana. I roll up the shop door and blow it out first and then I use my shop vac and get the rest. I try to give it a good cleaning out about twice a year. I will actually blow it out 2-3 times a month during the summer after mowing. Our cat guards it at night when she's not sleeping and spends the day inside our house. I have had a shop (2 different ones) for over 20 years and never seen a mouse turd and never had any mice damage or evidence of one. She pays for her keeping.

The shop in the basement, about once a month (this is where the tools, bait making, wood stuff is at so it dirtys up pretty quick). The shed outside, lucky if I clean it twice a year. The new shop I am building for the boats, probably will stay clean as I don't intend to keep any tools in it. Will strictly be a hunting/fishing garage built around the boats.

I last cleaned my garage sometime in the 1990's. I have a real hard time throwing stuff out. The collection of crap in there is now knee deep with a path down the middle.

Shop and garage are different, shop has valuables and I’ll just go through with a blower every other month. The garage, drag everything thing out twice a year, blower and pressure wash floor, decide what is going back in, versus what I no longer need. If I don’t need it, but it holds decent value$100+ it goes to the shop, otherwise it hits the curb.

Two different areas. Small sho and reloading room in basement is cleaned any time I use it. The big garage and vehicle shop is straightened up daily and tools put away, or in a lay down area. I use my leaf blower and blow all the dust dirt and leaves out every week. Usually just before hunting season I pick everything up off the floor, open all the doors, and hose it all out and squeegee dry

For my dad the answer would be for someone else to do after he died. I threw away 80 bags of stuff. Stuff never repaired, stuff that had sentimental value, stuff I don't know why on earth he kept. There was an "electronic oven" new in the box meaning one of the first ever microwaves. There was a beautiful giant worm drive skill saw on a top shelf with a cut cord that I can only assume he intended to replace the cord on 50 years ago and forgot about it. I threw away at least 5 broken chainsaws. And so much more broken or obsolete tools and stuff. After that long day of cleaning, it made my wife and I go home and start throwing stuff away so our kids will not have to do it some day. I did keep the worm drive saw though. I may never use that thing, but it does have a new cord now.

About once every 3 years. Used to be more often and the shop was pretty much immaculate till my man-cave became the woman/man cave. Should be AC/status normal now.

3 car garage which is 30 x 40.
Light clean 3 times a year or so. A full dump and clean. Once or twice. Needs it right now.

I started to straighten mine out this weekend but it's just too dang hot. Need to get rid of a bunch of crap left by the previous owner and get my chit situated.

Once a year usually around March. I take everything out and shop vac the floor. Dust the tool cabinets, water heater, etc. I then go through every drawer and container and throw away anything that is out of date or no longer need. Before I put stuff back, I spray every nook and granny with bug killer.

This image ran thru my mind while I was cleaning mine out yesterday. If you haven`t worked in manufacturing of some kind, you may not know what this is. It`s kind of like telling grown men and women to clean up their room (work area) and having them whine and bitch about it roflmao . Lean manufacturing and 5S are not one of the things I miss about my job since retiring.

I typically clean mine whenever I begin a new major project. That way I can start out all neat and orderly, but it soon devolves into the same nightmare it always does. By the time the project is done I'm usually enjoying it and not worried about the condition of the shop.

Cleaning out our basement this weekend. Also going to get rid of a few things we don't use. Maybe takes about an hour.

To be determined

Yep, I ran factories at Nokia and a near clean room type factory at Raytheon and they were immaculate. Just part of the culture but I don't hold my personal garage and shop to these standards. grin

My wife rented a roll off dumpster after I had back surgery and cleaned out our shop. roflmao To be fair, our shop had caught a LOT of crap after we moved and it needed to be cleaned out. I rented another, larger roll off before we moved out of TX and filled it up as well. Still got WAY too much crap. I'm going to have to build a new shop. roflmao
