These have been out in the wild for around six months - you don’t hear or see much about them…

I called Steiner 4 or 5 times over the last couple months offering to test & evaluate one , i didn’t even get a Dear John letter which tells me they are happy to let the scope do the talking and sale itself.

Street price is around $ 4800.00

Specs are in-line with the price, the dudes over at SnipersHide seem to have had some fair experiences with the clip on and dedicated scope version but there are no videos or reviews really on use of the units (just a lot of talk).

So anyhow I forked over the money and received the scope this past week and I am very impressed with the image quality and characteristics , like 9 out of 10 impressed

I give the function and features a 4 out of 10

I give the application a 0 out of 10

I put this video together to hopefully assist folks who are considering a purchase with some info in the absence of none:

I’m turning the scope over to our resident expert Doublenaughtspy for a test drive - I can’t wait to hear the report of how it is zeroed , use in the field , and other information.

Anybody out there sale these (dealer) what has been your thoughts on the unit ?

I used that exact model on a hog hung with an outfitter a week ago in East Texas. Served it's purpose just fine and it was easy enough to get the hang of with very little practice before we started hunting. We could very easily spot hogs out to at least 100 yards potentially even further. I pretty much only used the white hot setting. The other options weren't incredible in my opinion. The outfitters did say battery life seemed to be pretty good on these compared to other brands.

I will say that my buddy was using a Pulsar Thermion the same night and I did think the Pulsar's image clarity was a tad better. Not a bad scope at all in the field, but as I consider investing in one for myself I am leaning towards the Thermion.

UPDATE :

Unfortunately I returned the scope to Steiner for a refund

The batteries wouldn’t power on the unit after a week of light use and the zeroing of the optic did not go well. The reticle appears to travel when using zoom - in other words the point of aim shifts when using zoom which isn’t going to work for me.

There are other minor issues but in the end the stellar image wasn’t enough to outweigh the negative attributes observed after a couple of weeks of use.
