Sorry to hear that. You have some rain up your way today. Will it do any good if you get it?

Saw a ton in Throckmorton this weekend. If it stays dry, those with tanks still holding water should do great.

Good to hear. My LO west of town says it's still not up to par.

The're not unless they are irrigated. I was at our place in west TX last weekend and everything is burned up. ONLY thing green (and only sunflowers) were near the water tanks.

So, I’ve been watching a 10 acre wheat field, that was not cut. Ground gets bare and the first thing that comes up is native dove weed. Looked great. Dove were in it months leading up to August. Let me say, I know doves. I think I’m going to have hundreds of birds. Then I notice doves decreasing. I go into the field and all of a sudden, I think “drought”—did the croton make a seed? I pull some up and shake on hood of car-no seed!! Am I correct on this no seed thing and did this happen to sunflowers?

Lots of birds showing up around Winnie the last couple weeks. Think a lot of them may just be local birds that just started flying because we don't ever see a huge migration of dove around here.

I have a ranch about 10 miles south of Santa Anna, I was out there last week and saw decent numbers, I was surprised, it’s not over run with birds but more than I was expecting, same with quail, no big bunches but the most I’ve seen since I bought the place.
There’s very few sunflowers.

I think the quail comment surprises me the most; we use to have them thick about 5 years ago but with the continued droughts and lack of cover they've dwindled to almost non-existent. I know we got a freak storm that hammered us a few weeks back but other than that it's been crazy dry. I'm just a few miles south of town on CR 258.

I’ve always heard them but never seen many, I saw them several times when I was there 2-5 in a bunch, could have been the same ones but I’m happy I saw them.
We had a terrible hail storm, it tore up my camper, knocked windows out even knocked holes in the roof, it washed out a bunch of fence, but my lake filled up. That was over 2 months ago.

One of my guys went to my ranch in Coleman county last weekend and saw pretty decent numbers.
My neighbor reported today that it’s looking pretty good, dove are coming into tanks pretty good.
Maybe we’ll have a decent hunt this year.

Those jerks usually don't move to city power lines until 8/30-8/31. They usually stay in the fields to get my hopes up for weeks before.

Based on what I’m seeing in Stonewall County, one box of shells would last several hunts. There are no sun flowers this year on or near our lease and very few birds.
