I’ve had a 2012 and 2016 F150 with 3.5. 82,000 miles currently. No issues with either. Wife has an expedition with 3.5. No issues. Will likely get another F150 end of the year.

Not a fan of the turbo and that's why. You end up with an eight year old truck that needs a $3200 turbo.
I think it's better to equip the truck with an engine that can stand on it's own. The 5.7 I-Force was the best engine Toyota ever built.
I don’t know… the 22R was pretty good. The 2JZ made Toyota. It still does today.

I bought a '15 F150 new with the 2.7 . Now have 82k on it with no problems . Still runs like the day I got it but combined city / hiway 18 MPG is the best i can get .

Those who say they've had no problems must park on gravel. Every one I've seen come in on trade have a massive oil leak.
Pass the gravy.

Not 100%, but asking about longevity and the ford fans talking about being on their 4th+ ecoboost doesn't seem to bode well. Unless you're getting 200k+ out of one with little to no issues, I wouldn't even mention longevity. We can all trade in trucks every two years and talk about how great they were for 70k miles. Being a little facetious here, but come on.

' We put 200k-225k on them. What we spend money on are cam phasers at around 160K and out of probably 40-50 trucks, one set of turbos. We have had a couple of transmissions develop a shudder at the 200k mark.

' How does that compare with 3/4 ton diesels needing injectors and other repairs?

' How does that compare with 3/4 ton diesels needing injectors and other repairs? I haven't driven a diesel in 12 years....and only had one when one was provided for me via employer, so diesel longevity is a moot point IMO. Based on the OP, we are talking about 1/2 ton gassers. Turbo vs. v8.

I had 204k miles on mine when the turbos basically came loose and got sucked into the intake. My mechanic said he saw at least 1 V6 Ecoboost in his shop a week getting turbos replaced. He said he would never recommend that engine. When I bought my new truck, even the Ford sales guy said to avoid the Ecoboost. I got the V8 and have been a lot more satisfied.

My wife’s navigator has the 3.5 and has to have the timing chain, cam phasers, water pump, etc replaced at 45k miles. They are great until the clock counts down to 0

Our Expedition with the large repair bill for coolant leaks was a ‘17 model. After doing some research, it’s a known issue that happens right around the 70k mileage mark. Which is what ours had. The original coolant was pink, so I thought is was a tranny leak at first.

I've got an idea of what I would do... Let me know if you decide to sell. Those 70's and 80's squarebodies look so good lowered.

Why did the classic inline 6 fall so far out of favor?
Think about the old Ford 300 I-6, can't kill em.
Only straight 6 built in the last 20 years I aware of the the Cummins diesel. I remember in the late 90's I took a co-worker's Jeep with a 5 speed manual and a straight 6 a few miles to the store and back. On a gravel road as soon as I left and I damn near ended up in a fence, that thing had so much torque!
Seems like an I-6, with a turbo, in a half ton truck would be a hell of a good combo. When all the wars are over the only thing remaining will be cockroaches and 300 Fords. Found some cool video's on a 300 build.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Those who say they've had no problems must park on gravel. Every one I've seen come in on trade have a massive oil leak. I don't and mine has never leaked a drop. Plus I drive it like I stole it.
