Would like to see these beat out battery powered pickups and trucks.

https://www.ccjdigital.com/alternat...ngine-offers-advantages-over-allelectric

Not long after introducing their first hydrogen engine, the 15-liter X15H that’s part of Cummins new fuel agnostic platform, CCJ sat down with Cummins’ general manager of hydrogen engine business Jim Nebergall to learn more.

[Related: Fleets share ride and drive impressions of zero emission trucks and vans]

The 15-liter engine and a smaller 6.7-liter version are both part of Cummins’ new fuel agnostic platform where each fuel type’s engine has largely similar components below the head gasket. The components above the head gasket will dictate fuel use during Cummins’ roughly 30-year journey to zero emissions which will also include propane and gasoline variants.

But it’s the clean hydrogen-burning 15-liter that got the spotlight recently at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo in Long Beach, Calif. where Cummins introduced the heavy-duty workhorse that offers power comparable to a diesel while running on the most abundant element in the universe which, ironically enough, is in very short supply at America’s fueling stations.

I think that battery powered cars are the equivalent of the compact fluorescent lightbulb. It is a government mandated misstep.

The question is.... can the hydrogen engine be the solution like the LED light is for the solution for the incandescent lightbulb replacement.

Hydrogen makes up about .14% of the earths crust (and atmosphere) by volume. Why couldn’t they use nitrogen?

I'm thinking nitrogen is an inert gas. If they can get hydrogen from sea water it'll be a great thing. Fresh water sources not so much

There's a YouTube video of a hydrogen car, they barely made from LA to San Diego. And it was a little car, plus the cost per gallon was outrageous. Video should be easy to find. As an aside, nothing we do here will change anything will China and India are gigantic polluters.

Hydrogen fuel cell or like the one above? No reason the Cummins engine can't keep on truckin' after a 15 min hydrogen refuel.

16 bucks a gallon for fuel.

Right now Hydrogen is scarce and expensive. Maybe one day it will be cheaper than natural gas but now it's about 4 to 5 times higher. With DemoRats it could be a solution as it's clean (makes water after burning) as they don't care about cost. Somebody needs to put a Bug in Pedo Joe's ear in the Outhouse.. . While they're at it, they also need to slip in a BRAIN!

We need nuclear plants producing hydrogen.

Oh o , forget what i said earlier about it being clean,, .

"Emissions of hydrogen lead to increased burdens of methane and ozone and hence to an increase in global warming. Therefore, hydrogen can be considered as an indirect greenhouse gas with the potential to increase global warming."

If an affordable catalyst is discovered to crack H2O like they do for petro feedstocks to make gasoline then it'll be viable.

We are getting a Hydrogen manufacturing plant here in Graham. They going to remove the h2 from the city waste water.

I like brass and lead with a little powder in between

Nitrogen does not burn, it is used to sweep flammables from chemical processes equipment to ready it for maintenance and to purge equipment for start up.

Old Rabbit is right. We used either Nitrogen or Argon(another inert gas) to purge our welds that had to be certified or X-rayed.

That would be an interesting world with about 78% of our atmosphere flammable.

To be determined

A Hydrogen generator is not expensive to build yourselve…. All you need is water

Hydrogen sucks as a fuel. I made hydrogen for 36 years for one of the biggest producers in the world. Producing hydrogen isn’t cheap whether it is produced via steam methane reforming or hydrolysis. Hydrogen is low in BTU. It has to be stored either as a liquid which requires a bunch of energy or as a gas at very high pressure.

Hydrogen fuel is a green new deal joke.

It is a little more complex than that. Water, catalysts, power, compressors, storage.

There are many YouTube videos out there, I’ve seen it done. I’ve even ridden in multiple vehicles that had been altered

I would be willing to wager that the "vehicles" you rode in were not capable of powering an 80,000 big rig, a one ton dually, a half ton truck or even a mid size city driven SUV. I would also be willing to bet it would not travel for any great distance.

Hydrogen vehicle filling stations are even more rare than electric charging stations. The company I worked for built the hydrogen stations. There are some stations in California. Real quick, tell me where in Texas you have seen a hydrogen vehicle filling station.

I will wait.

Hydrogen will NEVER power the transportation in this country until, if ever, FUSION reactor power stations are commercial. Even then, as now, the electric grid must be tripled in capacity.

There is no energy magic pill, and right now fossil fuels and fission nuclear are our best options. Solar and wind are a farce.

Don't drink the clean green energy Koolaid.
