Buy a summer ranch in Montana. Yup. Buy a ranch in Montana to work my bird dogs in the summer. Would also buy a small airplane and learn to fly it.

1. Pay off the debts of everyone I like (this list is shorter than you think) and give them a little extra to play with.
2. Put about $100MM in safe investments.
3. Buy a 10,000+ acre ranch in Texas to high fence and raise whatever animals I please.
4. Buy a small (or not so small) ranch somewhere in the mountains with the most epic view I could find.
5. Spend most of my time hunting in Africa, Alaska, and South America.....and taking the wife on trips to wine country.
6. Buy every single gun I've ever wanted since I was a little boy.
.....OH....
.......and the goal would also be to never experience temperatures over 90*F again, so obviously alternate where I live throughout the year. LOL

I would buy a huge ranch.. In the central flyway of course! Don’t discount his west coast roots. Pacific flyway would be perfect for him. Closer to the mountains too

Retire now instead of a few years from now. Fund our charity. Help some good folks that need assistance. Would be tempting to buy a majority ownership position in the Texas Rangers and fire most of the front office.

I'd buy a 90' Hatteras, hire a crew of Costa Rican supermodels, and live happily ever after.

Create several trusts. A few for family and a special one for the men and the wives or widows that I served in Vietnam with. The latter would be a resort like ranch community with all of the amenities needed. Lot of those men live up north. They already snowbird to Flotida, Arizona New Mexico and Texas. It would be a snowbird haven.
Next build a small veterans retirement community for those that choose to live in a like mnded area. A mixture of small 1 and 2 bedroom homes. A recreation area and a mess hall style food service hall.

First thing I'd do is hire someone to go tell my boss I quit. I'd have to think some about step 2.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Wife and I got into the wine and thought about what to do with the money. I’d give away a lot of it to deserving folks, and not necessarily our kids. For the grandkids I would not give them a bunch of money. They’d just be worthless. So…we’d give them twice what they earned as a yearly income. No workee, no free money. That’d give them some incentive.
As for the wife and I, a place in the mountains for the hot Texas summers, and I’d buy out the land around me.
And we’d need a team of lawyers to protect us from whatever BS came our way, and you know it would. That kind of money would just complicate our lives.
We haven’t bought a ticket and probably won’t.

First, I would keep my identity private if Texas would let me.
Lay VERY low.
so, $600 million after taxes. I guess Chase Bank would freak when I deposited it all in my account.
You could burn through it just in property taxes for all those fancy ranches ya'll are buying.
I would not want anything to generate income which would require taxes paid on it.
Is there ANY accountant you would trust for advice?
Would you have to "manage" this money? I would not
You will have NO, real, friends anymore (maybe a couple). your family will soon hate you even more than they do now. You will have more NEW family than you ever knew. The underworld will come looking for you. You will live on burner phones

I will let yall know Saturday after I win... I would pay off my immediate family's house debt and a few select friends. Buy a small ranch to piddle on and a mountain house to vacation to. I think one reason most people say it is the worst thing to ever happen to them is because it is so easy to lose your purpose in life. I would still do some form of work. Much less than I currently do, but still something.

Hire an adviser first, then pay off immediate family debt, buy my wife a nicer house, then a beach or lake house. New truck, shop for a hunting property, and invest. I imagine I could do it for under $3 million, aside from the investing. Then back to work and enjoy life.

That is kind of my plan for Saturday after I cash my winning ticket. First though, I would insulate myself from all but immediate family until plans in place. Those would include a summer place in the mountains of northern New Mexico, or maybe southern Colorado. At the same time, I would set up a corp to start re-assembling the ranch which my place was once a part of until is was broken into smaller parcels a few decades ago. I don't it to be huge, maybe 1,500 acres, but I want it private. High fence the entire place and with strong gates. I might help some family with home upgrades, or pay off some bills, but the bulk of my generosity would be to certain charities. I used to think about some form of endowment to my alma mater, but like most colleges today, they've gone off the left end and I don't want to fatten them up anymore. I don't particularly like to travel, but think my wife and I could enjoy a couple of big excursions a year to see the place she has always dreamt of visiting.

If I am doing this close to right the lottery total is $1.1 Billion, cash option $648.200,000.00 - 37% taxes + $408,366,000 net $100 mil in a trust to the kids ($50 M each). $60 mil to family & friends. $30 mil to charities $10 mil to certain Republican elections $208 mil for me and the lovely wife to do whatever we want, whenever we want to and yes

I’d buy land (a lot of it), buy a beach house, take case of my immediate family and alter some lives of people I don’t know, but could use a helping hand. Invest the rest and live off interest and setup trust for kids and grandkids.

I’d have to buy a lottery ticket to win…. That brings back an old fond memory. Quite some time back a friend of mine popped of to me and said, David if I won the lottery I would give you a million dollars. I said really thats awful nice of you Rick, do you ever buy any tickets and he grinned big time and said Nope

A good friend and I were talking about this when it got up to 1B last time and had pretty much the exact conversation that's listed above. You would suddenly become one of the wealthiest people in the US/world and would have a huge target on you as soon as your name got out there. Besides trying to get as anonymous as possible before accepting the money, you would need to find a security company to protect you 24x7 from all the crazies that would be coming out of the woodwork. Then you would need to hire a fleet of attorneys/accountants to manage that amount of cash.
Thanks, Rich

Mrs LJ and I speculating laist night.
I wanted a place with room for a bigger shop. I wanted to hire a professional landscaper that could come by everday.
She wanted a modern kitchen with an ice maker that makes crushed ice like Sonic and a DRIVE UP WINDOW so the Grub Hub driver could just hand the food off.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?
Never trust a man that doesn't trust you.
