The life of everything follows a bell curve. Start at zero, peak, back to zero. That is the nature of everything. The dinosaurs hit their peak then died off. The Egyptians, Roman Empire, British rule, Mongols, Japanese dynasties all of it; and something that didn’t eventually go from zero to an apex and back to zero again. Even our own lives. The only way this paradigm varies is with a drastic change.

Do I think the economy will go to zero? No; there have been enough shifts in industry, technology and socio-economic sectors that it will continue; albeit differently. things are being restructured as we speak. Change is inevitable; without it, all things die/return to zero. Living in the way things were is dangerous, but loss of respect for and knowledge of the past is deadly.

I've heard civilized society is 72 hours of food away from a breakdown. Economy collapse would depend on which sector I would imagine. If the trucks stop running or if the food stops being in the grocery store the covid riots would be child play when you are considering the 30-year-old and under children that are around today.

Or it could be when Starbucks runs out of the fruity drinks all of them love. WHO knows.

Most likely scenario is that we have another recession not unlike the late 70s/early 80s.

Cease to exist no, get really ugly yes!

How much has the lack of florocarbons (a/c) affected climate change, that stuff used to block a lot of the harmful sun light and heat back to the dark space?

Cease to exist?

All great nations fall so yes. But it won’t just be the economy that ceases to exist.

That is the communist model. The governing elite with the population as minions supporting them as they harvest the wealth of the nation.

I’ve been hearing that carp all my life, and I’m old.
Be as prepared as you can for trouble with the economy. Most of us that have lived very long know how to cope.

Nobody is prepared for a full economic collapse.

But our parents and grand parents lived through it.
We will too, if it comes.

There are some, they are the ones currently with nothing living in the sticks and those who are well off but located well out side the cities. Just about every remote ranch in the US could survive a economy collapse.

I remember going quail hunting on the San Francisco. The Sul Ross cowboy who had the lease rights and lived on the place caught my attention. he has to live with that gawd awful dog pear, but I don't think a nuclear disaster would have changed his lifestyle.

I’ll concede that for the most part. True ranch like several sections with working cowboys cattle spread out, wells etc.

Now 500 acres of pasture 2 hours from a metropolitan bubble. No.

The folks living off grid in a shack etc. Maybe but their wildlife population would dwindle quickly.

My brother bought a place up near the buffalo river in Arkansas. National forest all over the place. He has a direct neighbor that has no road in or out. The previous owners told them to stay clear of that property line he lives in a shack unseen by earth maps and does not like guest.

Property size and trespassing are irrelevant unless you have man power to protect. There is Enough small game for a while. I cant wait to eat a whooping crane!!

It doesn't take much land in the country to stand alone. Certainly doesn't require sections worth.
