Yesterday I got a piece of mail that belonged to the house 3 doors upstream. I think when the mail person sees they missed someone's mail they purposely put it in the wrong box so they don't have to go back. I think they figure the person who gets it will take it to the correct house.

Almost a daily occurrence where I live. I deliver mail to my neighbors almost everyday

I very seldom get any mail mixed up on our street delivery. The carrier is a long time employee, and has had our route quite a while and knows everyone. We also have a PO Box at the main office, and get other peoples mail frequently. With a hundred foot long wall of boxes, I can see how that happens. Overall, I'm pretty happy with our service!!

Yep, everyday thing here, my wife has an app that tells her what should be arriving each day, we have fun betting on what will actually arrive and when.

Speaking of mail at the wrong place - a couple weeks ago we started getting mail for a mexican woman at our address. Our address didn't exist before we built our home - I personally got the 911 address. The property around us has been in my wife's family for 100 years.

I was concerned about title fraud or identity theft - everything looks good on that end so far. The woman has purchased a decent amount of property in the county lately. It's all been junk mail and congratulations on your new house here's a warranty offer type stuff so far. Maybe just a screw up somewhere and nothing nefarious.

Happens here a couple few times a year, I just put it back in the box and raise the flag, if it's a neighbor I have contact with, I let them know its there so they can run by and get it.

I had planned to do that and had marked it as the wrong box but I was headed to town so I just put it in their box. They will probably cuss someone. I could not close the door because their box is too low.

And your surprised? How many threads have been posted about the chitty USPS quality and service in the last year? Hell, my Dad is retired from the USPS and is embarrassed to tell people that's where he worked for 40+ years.

Sign up for the informed delivery emails-you get photos of everything that's supposed to be coming each day.

Edit-if I get my neighbor's mail, I usually just put it in their mailbox.

Happens all the time to me, here in Eastland...
But, I gotta admit, I call'em. And they come get it, pretty quick.
I tell'em, they can just pick it up the next day... But nope they come get it, right then..

I've recently had two packages now marked delivered by USPS and no sign of them anywhere. No evidence of porch pirates. I have one of those pending missing mail searches going for one of them but I'd be stunned if it's ever found.

We get other peoples mail I’d imagine every day, only check the box twice a week. 15-20% isn’t ours, whether it be a neighbor or previous owner. We’ve been in this house since 2016.

I think stamps are fixing to go up to 60 cents. I'm sure the mix-ups will end after that.

still work there, in maintenance, i cant believe they get any mail delivered correctly. there is a bunch of incompetent, illiterate people running the show. smaller towns with seasoned carriers pick up on this but the larger towns, the carrier gets the mail that is supposed to be some what sorted to the route, they just chunk it in the box and go on. its not just your local post office, it starts way up at the plants in the bigger citys.

If I'm here, I can tell when the delivery person is making their
way to the box because they're yakking on their cellphone
blue tooth thingy.
It's a shame that so many these days have guaranteed jobs that
they can't get fired from for poor performance.
When I entered the work force decades ago, you had to do
whatever you were hired to do correctly and in a timely fashion.
If you couldn't cut it for whatever reason, you got replaced by
someone that could cut it.
Lots of management that don't need to be employed doing what
they do as well. Cashiers need to be out at a register, stockers
need to be stocking shelves, cleaning crews need to be cleaning,
etc. etc.

I have the app that sends an email daily with photos of what's coming.

Stopped by the POB yesterday and noticed a table with random mail pieces all over it. Looks like "the place" people put mail from their POB that's not theirs...in a pile on a table.

Pass the gravy.

Had this happen with an Amazon package that was a scope and bipod. Contacted amazon and they sent new ones. 6 months later neighbor delivered it and said it was in their garage the entire time. Now I have an extra scope and bipod. (good reason to buy a new rifle)
