I've been in that area down there. There's a lot of high voltage electrical stuff, lubricants, and solvents.

I've been in that area down there. There's a lot of high voltage electrical stuff, lubricants, and solvents. is that the generator room?

Just the pics I’ve seen I’d go with Turkey Hunters theory.

Second video from different angle shows fire outside the power block, and looks like a transformer blew up. Boulder City FD has confirmed fire is out now

You start talking medium voltage and motors going. I wouldn’t want to be in the same building. That’s for sure. Just do an image search on Hoover Dam Generator Room. Those things are massive. There's this ozone like smell with so much voltage. Anyone who has had Arc Flash/Arc Fault training knows what can happen with electricity.

It is believed a transformer caught fire then exploded due to the oil in the transformer. That's what I heard.

Seen a SCR Rig's Generator blow up on a Rig in Louisiana and like to took the whole Electric system out. Had 4 Caterpillar Powered Kato Gen Sets running on a 35,000 foot drilling Rig drilling surface. Outside one blew. Shook the ground and blew the wall out of the Generator House. 1/4" inch walls. Couldn't hear for a week.

I was USN Electrician...
I've seen a 750kw, hit 180 outta phase with shore power.
It blew a hole, in the bulkhead, you could walk through...
It flash burned, paint off of equipment, 50ft away...
Plenty scary. Plenty loud.
