I was thinking about expanding a little beyond casting and trying to make my own jacketed bullets. And I ran across the Corbin Press and dies... http://www.corbins.comAnyone have any experience using Corbin's to make their own jacketed bullets? Everything I've seen and read make it looks like a damn good option. If anyone's used the Corbin equipment and would like to share their experience, I'd be thrilled to hear about it.

I have shot some of the bullets made with 22lr cases as jackets, I just buy jacketed bullets in large quantities to offset price a bit. Im not sure you can make a more accurate bullet than the big producers despite what Corbin claims.

I bought my swaging dies from RCE, Robert Corbin's business. I made these from RF jackets & they can be as accurate as anything that you can buy. But just like in reloading, the quality/accuracy is equal to the care you put into making them. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/07/full-55403-355070-rf_bullets.jpg)

Those are the type I shot, expanded well, but accuracy was no better than my Speer 1035's. Not sure what they cost to make now days.

If you pick-up empty .22 hulls & have some soft lead, bullet cost is free. If you buy the brass hulls & lead, cost is about 3 bullets for a penny. The process is labor intensive & the dies, press & equipment can be expensive to start up.

But just like in reloading, the quality/accuracy is equal to the care you put into making them. That's awesome man, thanks for sharing. Those are some nice looking jacketed bullets you made there! I did see there was a special die setup with Corbin for turning the .22LR brass into jackets for 223 rounds - My kids shoot the hell out of 22LR (like probably 10,000+ rounds a year), so I think that would be a good way to put that used 22LR brass to use instead of just tossing them. I did notice some hefty price tags on a bit of the Corbin equipment - but buy once, cry once right? I'm not really doing it to save money or anything, I'm just interested in expanding my skill set and overall personal production capacity. Just be nice to be able to make some jacketed bullets yourself during a shortage, ya know? Of course, once I get this skill down my [censored] will probably be like "Hey, anyone know what machine I need to make my own brass?" ROFLMAO Thanks again for sharing!
