I recently bought a Cannon gun safe. After reading the literature that came with it and printing more info from the QC code, I see nothing about the electrical outlet on the inside. There are several standard electrical outlets inside the safe along with several USB ports. The safe also came with what looks like a power cord. I understand that this is to run lights or a dehumidifier but how do I get power to the safe itself? I know I am missing something. Can anyone shine some light for me?

Many thanks.

Does it not have a cord with a standard plug coming out of the safe that you could plug into a wall outlet?

My bet is the power cord inside the safe is actually to be used to connect the power box to an outlet outside the safe.

Just a guess

When I added a dehumidifying heat strip inside my Cannon safe (It did not come with any electrical accessories inside it), I had to run the power cord through one of the pre-cut holes in the floor. In fact, the heat strip came with the plug unattached to the cord to make this step easier.

I don’t have that brand. However, when I got mine I had questions and called the Safe company. They walked me through everything.

Thanks everyone. I will explore the option of running the cord through the floor but that seems like a poor design. The safe weighed in just under 500 lbs before I put the guns inside. If it has to sit on top of an extension cord that just seems odd.

How do I use an electric dehumidifier in a safe without a power outlet?

If you prefer the electrical option, Cannon Safes come with knockouts in the back to allow for the wiring of electrical systems to use with lights or dehumidifiers. When using the knockouts be careful not to make them any bigger. This can void your warranty and compromise the integrity of the safe.

Mine has a hole to run the power cord out of the back bottom corner of the safe to plug into the wall. I think when I bought it, it had a piece of plastic or rubber covering the hole.
