Don’t know about where you are, but here it’s supposed to be 106 to 107 Friday through Monday. Do ya think our Californian immigrants will reconsider being here?

On a more serious note, when was the last time we had heat like this?

I remember some one-teens working summers at a sand plant from 98-01.

BUT....I may have maxed out the truck's thermometer the other day:

I think it was 2010.
The hottest I remember was 1980.

1980 was one that I will never forget. The sun rising as a giant Yellow/Orange ball of fire, no wind at all you could see the heat waves in the air first thing in the morning, all vegetation that was not watered a lot was dead, it was a sea of dead brown vegetation everywhere.

My brother had a friend he met that had just moved down to Dallas from Oregon in the fall of 1979, he moved back to Oregon in the fall of 1980 saying he was leaving hell behind him.

DFW airport was the official weather reporting station and at the time there was hardly any development around that area so not a lot of cement.
DFW Recorded 113 degrees two days in a row, Love Field recorded 117 those same days!
There were 42 days straight over a 100, 28 of those days over 105, 5 days over 110 and over 100 degrees 69 days total for the summer.

Folks it was hot!

2011....the summer of hell.
7/2-8/10....all 100+ days. Second all time consecutively behind 1980. Although 2011 had more days overall at 100+.

Right now, I'm showing a heat index of 113. I just walked outside and the humidity is unbearable. Pretty weather lady says it will be this way until Saturday.

1980 was really bad in Houston. 2011 was really bad in the Hill country. This year is bad, but I don’t have to be out in it working. Thank goodness.

I remember 1980 also.

Weather cycles happen. The last 2 summers were pretty mild.
