When I started towing a TT with the Tundra, I went to 10 ply Michelin Defender LT’s. This morning I took the Tundra in for its annual Springtime bumper to bumper checkup and tire rotation. The Toyota guys decided to not rotate them because, as they said, “it’s best to leave the 10 ply’s on the rear”. I said that they should all be 10 ply tires. He showed me that they weren’t. Off I went to Discount Tire and explained the situation. They checked their records, and I did indeed pay for 10 plys. I had worn the non 10 ply tires down past half of their useful life, and had had no problems, so didn’t feel it was right to ask for two free tires. They gave me two for the price of one.

It had never occurred to me to check if I had gotten the tires I paid for.

Man, tires are expensive.

I heard yesterday that a few European Michelin factories are kind of on pause due to a shortage of raw materials. BF Goodrich, Uniroyal, and a few others are made by Michelin.

I had 4 of the wrong sized tires installed at Discount once. I caught it before I drove off.

It surprised. Place sucks, glad they made it right

Feeding possums pizza and now driving off with different tires? Kinda getting concerned here.

I ordered a set of Goodyear Duratracs and they installed a set of Goodyear MTRs. The MTRs are a Kevlar aggressive MT and at that time about $30 to $40 more per tire. They called me and told me about the mistake and said I could bring it back for the correct tires. I said sorry I am headed to deer lease. They said OK try them and keep if you want to. I beat the carp out of them on the lease. MTRs are one tough tire. They were way too much tire for my Tacoma and extremely noisy on the road. A month later I called and said I want the Duratracs.

They gave us a full set of wrong tires.
I called and ordered the tires and sent one of the guys to get them put on a truck.
I noticed a few weeks later when I saw the truck again.

Ya know, I do have a long list of interesting problems from time to time. As for the tires, I just assumed that I got what I paid for. Never thought to check the tires out. I’d have worn them out, bought new 10 plys, and kept on keeping on. Ignorance is bliss…

But, life is good. The tennis kids that I help instruct just won 5th in the state in 3A and under. I’ve coached a few of them from the day they got a racquet. That makes me happy.

Grandson is here now, out in the blind and waiting for that big hog to show up. And that makes me happy. He’s a really good looking young man, but a bit shy and no girlfriend at the moment. But he’s smart. Got himself a German Wirehaired Pointer and walks it in the dog park near his apartment. A good looking kid with a puppy, and he said he was surrounded by girls in no time. I accused him of getting the dog as girl bait. He smiled.

Now, if I could just catch some crappie…

Me either. Wish all businesses had the customer service of Discount Tire. When they started allowing for online reservations/appointments, it made me love the place more. In and out in 15-30 minutes every time.

My local Discount tire has done right by me on several transactions. Not to mention they email me every so often to remind me to come get a free air pressure check on my truck. The first time I every did that, they told me I had a flat on my rear outer tire and that if I had time, they would fix it right then FOR FREE. Like NDN said above, their customer service is top notch in my experience. They let me sit in my vehicle while they lift it up and change the tires. None of that, “you can’t be in the service area” that some places try to tell you.

They have earned my business with that type of service.

Years ago had a set (6) installed on one of my 1 tons (Odessa Tx. Store) and My hand called me and said front right had fallen off out on Interstate 20. Forgot to tighten front right. He caught it before it fell completely off. Screwed lug nuts up bigtime. They paid the whole deal at Chevy House to fix it. Costly mistake.

Bought a set of new Mastercraft tires for my wife’s 2014 Explorer at a local shop a few years ago. Went to have the tires rotated at the same shop. Prior to that my wife said the steering seemed “funny”- like it was sliding on turns. They came out and said they noticed a problem. Seems three tires were 285/75/17s and one was 245/75/17. They replaced the tire with a new one of the correct size (285/75/17).
No more “funny” steering issues after that.

No prob with our DT either.

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it 100 times. I’ll roll a blown out wheel past discount to an honest shop. Anyone who shops there deserves the service they get.

We've always had a good experience with DT, but the last time they added a few things to the invoice. Elizabeth took her truck in to get new tires I had ordered for her. It seems women are often a target when they go into any kind of vehicle servicing shop.

Yep, never an issue.

I've used them exclusively for the past dozen years for all of our vehicles and never a single problem. Customer service is the best in the biz, and prices good too. I won't shop anywhere else for car shoes.

Never had an issue with DT but I also inspect my vehicle closely anytime it leaves my hands. I usually re-torque lugnuts just to be sure. I had friends in highs chool that worked at DT and they could barely remember to brush their teeth so that's what clued me in on double checking their work.
