The third picture of a point in your hand where there is a blue straw in the background appears to be a Wells point aka an Adena Wells or Texas Kirk which falls into the middle Archaic time period about 3000 to 3500 years BP. My wife found a nice one of those made from petrified wood at our place in Houston County.

Funny thing is that some of the Clovis, First View, Folsum, Midland and other paleo points were better, more skillfully- made then some of the later points over the next several thousands of years like some skill was lost as the larger game became extinct. Later the craftsmanship picked up again. The Clovis peoples and their technology lasted only about 350 to 400 years for some reason.

Given the footprints in White Sands, I think a lot of sites are going to get a second look.

Not just there, been some interesting finds south of our border.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I believe he explained that in an earlier post as "before present."

Couldnt edit the post with pics so making another with a couple point types added for those interested in that kinda stuff.
For the record, BP = Before Present. Not the same as BC. (10,000BP = 10,000 years ago = 8,000BC)

Wilson (9,000 - 10,000 BP)

Wells (3,000 - 3,500 BP)

Depending on where found.....my first thought on the "Perdiz" is that it is a Langty, but the points are similar. The Perdiz is much more widely spread through the State so overlap occurs.

Either way....a very nice point.
