Where do you like to shoot, and what do you like to shoot them with? I shoot mostly out of the Lovington, NM area, since my in-laws live out there. I shoot a Rem 788 in .223. Longest shot is 369 steps. I was messing around on Google earth tonight and figured out how to spot PD towns. Found 6 or 7 more that I didn't know about in an area I shot some this weekend. Looking like next summer may be a dog-whacking good time.

I go once a year in South Dakota during pheasant season. I blast em with the 22-250. They sure are a lot of fun.

Got a small town on our ranch. Fun mid-day diversion between morning and evening hunts. Limit it to .17 hmr so as not to disturb the other hunting.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

It's a blast but not too many places to go anymore. I've seen guided trips go for $1500 per gun for a 2 day hunt. I just can't go for that. Nobody wants them but they don't want them gone bad enough to let people hunt. I don't fault the landowners, they're just trying to make ends meet. If people will pay, they'll charge.

Usually shoot them out the back door with a 22lr or 17hmr. Several of my neighbors have them and love for me to plink them.

Watkins, where's Anton? I lived in Canadian for a while and shot lots of pd's out there on several different people's ranches. Haven't met a rancher yet that wanted MORE pd's.

Anton is just northwest of Lubbock, in Hockley county. There are several large praire dog towns around here. The poor Spade ranch between Levelland and Smyer, is nothing but one large prairie dog town. I know they run hunts on it, but I won't pay to shoot them.

I am in pest control here in Abilene and have contracted with a couple property mgmt companies to eradicate them on their properties, but unfortunately I was not allowed to shoot them. According to the Texas A&M zoologist I spoke with, one of the biggest PD towns in the country is right here in Abilene at the Coca-Cola distribution bldg/property on I-20 (the old General Dynamics bldg).

Didn't know there were still any around here. Knew there were some historically, plus Redbud park. What's your eradication strategy? You're not using one of those giant vacuum cleaner trucks are you smile I know a bunch of the ones I used to shoot got wiped out with some version of the plague a couple of years ago. Maybe you could introduce some of that?

Ive shot alot of them over the years while living in Arizona. We went around Seligman, we would shoot them while deer hunting and elk hunting. It was a good way to spend the hot part of the day. It was also good way to confirm that your gun was still on. I bought a .204 that I would take out varmint hunting with me and we would also stop and take long range shots with it.
