I have a piece of butcher block countertop I’m going to use for my new loading bench. I have always used a standing height table or sat on a stool. My current taxable has a height of about 40 inches and has always been ok just seeing if there are any thoughts on a better height?
Also I have a feeling some of the responders might know a thing or two about metal working, I’m building the base out of 11 ga square tube and angle iron to lay a few wood shelves in under it. Will 1/8 rods be ok for the 11 ga or should I pick up some lighter rods? Never welded any skinny stuff.
Thanks

Perfect height depends on your height.
Bout belt buckle level.
1/8" electrode is fine on 11 gauge.

Agreed, mines is about there too. It work very well for standing and sitting. I got 2 adjustable bar stool type chairs. It works great.

Yep, build it to fit you. I set mine about mid-belly height which works great for me if I'm standing or on a bar stool.

1/8" electrode is fine on 11 gauge. Thanks Jason, been working on the old one for quite a while I’ll check that against belt buckle level.

Mine is waste high. I wish it was 5-6" taller.
Pass the gravy.

My existing table is right at waist height on me at 38.5 inches. I’ve never had a complaint with it and waist height seems to be the prevailing height so I’m going to go ahead and just keep it the same.

Do you plan on standing or sitting more? I knew I'd be standing more at mine so I did height between waist and belly button and it worked great. I bought an adjustable barstool for when I want to sit. Waist heigh and up seems to be the consensus.
The diagram above looks like it's about weiner high which seems like it would be best suited for seated position. Otherwise, standing up lower back may take a toll or even worse, chop your weiner off.
