Found out yesterday I need a crown and a cavity fixed.

she said just shy of $2200

does this sound correct?

I googled "cost of a crown" it said $100 - $5,000 WORTHLESS

What should it cost?

thats more along the lines of what I thought. I've got some leads out to my retired Dentist, still a great friend, and my GF's dentist.

This is a brand new Dentist for me, I dont want to get hosed.

Any you Old Timers have Dental and Vision insurance along with your Medicare?

A little high. Depends on insurance. I'm in the middle on an implant for just shy of $1,500.

Nucleo Dental in Juarez, Mexico. Fly into El Paso, they'll pick you up at the airport and drop you off...Great place for dental work! If you have to stay overnight, stay at Chase Suites. It's an old apartment complex they repurposed into a hotel. Tell them you are going to Nucleo and they will give you a huge discount.

Family friend has been going for about 5 years. She did all implants on her teeth. Was quoted $35,000 state side...$14,000 there. My mom went for the first time in 2020 and went back in 2021 for her last treatment. She thought she was getting just her crown replaced, but the tooth that had the bridge was an issue and had to come out, along with the crown and something else. All told it was $3000 there and it would have been $6000 to $8000 at her dentist here.

Depends on who does the work...my last one...my dentist wouldn't do had to go see an endo...he charged 1300 to do the root canal and then went back to my dentist for the crown...she charged 1k.

I've got another that needs done that I've put off because I'd rather buy rifles or hunts than teeth wink rofl

Finished my last implant yesterday. Hope it's a while before needing another. I have chronic dry mouth from my previous cancer surgery that's slowly killing my teeth. Sucks, but I'm alive!

Those prices sound about right. A Mexican guy I worked with, about 70 years old, had all new teeth that shined and looked great. He paid 1/10 of what it cost to have dental work here in the USA by going to Mexico to have his work done. I considered it and he even offered to go with me but it never happened. My last crown cost me ~$1500 and the bill showed that insurance covered the remainder of $3500.

Another thing, a good dentist goes a long way regardless of the price because they are all somewhat in the same ballpark. Find someone you feel comfortable with, listen to what they say, turn you BS meter to highest level and go home before making any decisions.

Call ten places. I needed a wisdom tooth pulled asap with no insurance a few years ago and was getting quotes up to 2k and found a place by home that came out to 250$ out the door

crown is done, $2100. I do have to say they did a great job, and I was VERY comfortable for both visits. I HOPE this will be it forever. I go October 3rd for cleaning and x-rays. I'm sure they will find a way to milk another $2K from me bang

They have mexican dentist that come up to Plano area and work cheap, also mexican orthodondist perform services as well, Sadly you probably have to be illegal alien and mexican to get the services, I highly doubt they would give a gringo a break or perform services.
