I was thinking shotguns might be useful in the classroom. Plus they could be used to bean-bag an unruly student or one that's not paying attention. Just need to be vigilant about what is loaded at the time.

Some teachers yes. But 95% percent of teachers are hard core democrat and against guns. They don't want to do it. That's the last person I want with a firearm who has no clue how to shoot a pistol in a crowded class room of kids. The mind set of most teachers is wrong to rely on them as the defense. It might be the answer for a select few teachers, but not the masses. My brother teaches, and he would be a good fit to go armed. But a high majority of teachers is the wrong answer.

There are about 21,000 total schools in Texas. You could put 2 armed guards at each school (42,000 officers), pay them about $70,000 a year for a total of about 2.9 billion. Have them highly trained, and work ONLY on school security and keeping the campus' safe. Why can't that be done?

Unfit to carry a weapon? Unfit to teach our children.

Finding teachers who are of the right mindset to smoke a kid is the challenge. That and aren’t a liberal idiot. Few and far between in urban areas. The schools here have armed teachers but this is the country.

How about parents and workplaces work together to let a parent volunteer maybe 4 days a year, the parents could have training and provide their own weapon.
Wouldn't be to hard.
