I was thinking shotguns might be useful in the classroom. Plus they could be used to bean-bag an unruly student or one that's not paying attention. Just need to be vigilant about what is loaded at the time.

They for damn sure need guns. That’s all there is to it. Imagine being an untrained gunman entering a classroom with a barricaded teacher and a 12 gauge. They will start hitting Buffalo Wild Wings instead of schools.

I mean every last one of ‘em. And if they are not fit to carry a gun then neither are they fit to teach our children. It’s time to raise the standard, the status quo is bs

Some schools in Texas already have armed teachers and staff. Yep, my sister in law teaches at a tiny little town just east of Gainesville called Callisburg and they have armed teachers there.

Some schools in Texas already have armed teachers and staff. Yes they indeed do!

I've seen too many Libs of TikTok videos to have any faith in our teachers and protecting the students.

The school 4 miles from me has some armed teachers. I truly believe one of the teachers I know would risk his life to save a child.

I'm all for it, the "Gun Free Zone" is a welcome sign for a whack job with any weapon.
As said before we gave billions to Ukraine wouldn't take much to fence schools. If we have to lock em down like a prison do so. Sad to say it's come to this but it has.
Not much of a comparison but in 2013 I was training for a horseback out of state Elk hunting trip and living in Frisco at the time. I wanted to walk stairs at any HS football field and I could not get into any facility to walk the bleachers. My point being they can be locked down.

Some teachers yes. But 95% percent of teachers are hard core democrat and against guns. They don't want to do it. That's the last person I want with a firearm who has no clue how to shoot a pistol in a crowded class room of kids. The mind set of most teachers is wrong to rely on them as the defense. It might be the answer for a select few teachers, but not the masses. My brother teaches, and he would be a good fit to go armed. But a high majority of teachers is the wrong answer.
There are about 21,000 total schools in Texas. You could put 2 armed guards at each school (42,000 officers), pay them about $70,000 a year for a total of about 2.9 billion. Have them highly trained, and work ONLY on school security and keeping the campus' safe. Why can't that be done?

It absolutely CAN be done, but it's not a priority for our politicians for a number of reasons. Look at ALL of our tax payer money that gets sent to other countries or for useless pet projects to be laundered to make politicians richer, but we can't harden our schools or protect our Southern border.

Men are meant to be the ones to protect women and children. Men playing women’s sports while we arm the women to protect the children? This country is going to hell in a hand basket.

Finding teachers who are of the right mindset to smoke a kid is the challenge. That and aren’t a liberal idiot. Few and far between in urban areas. The schools here have armed teachers but this is the country.

The schools here have armed teachers but this is the country. In urban schools the students are probably better armed than the shooters. Suburbia and rural schools seem to be where most of this stuff happens. Coaches are the best candidates for CC in schools, IMO. Many of them are ex military, most are not liberal, and of all the staff coaches are probably more level headed under pressure than your average teacher.

As someone who taught and coached football for 20 years I can honestly tell you that coaches and some teachers would be fine to arm with guns. All of them or even most of them? Hell to the F no. You’ve lost your ever loving mind if you think all or most teachers should be armed. They aren’t fit for it and another consideration is that most didn’t go into teaching to be a policeman as well as a counselors, parent etc. 90 percent of teachers don’t have the temperament to carry a gun much less use it in a high pressure situation. Coaches are more suited for it yes.

How about parents and workplaces work together to let a parent volunteer maybe 4 days a year, the parents could have training and provide their own weapon. Wouldn't be to hard.

Just need to be vigilant about what is loaded at the time. I had a coach who could sling a blackboard eraser across the room with amazing velocity and accuracy. Headshots every time.

When I was playing ball at Permian in the 90’s I had a Mexican assault a 70 year old substitute teacher in one of the portable buildings. I took a three step drop and hit him in the nose. SOB was pretty tough. He got up. We broke three desks and an overhead projector before I threw him through the window. I knocked out all his front teeth while he was trying to rally. I was pretty cut up but made it to history class next period after talking to to 5-0. He went to jail. Even back then, why would a 20 year old still be allowed to go to high school?
