Looking for advice on a quality .22 break barrel air rifle. Trying to get rid of quite a few ground squirrels that are tearing up my yard. Was considering the Benjamin Prowler NP (.22). Trying to stay under $200 for an air rifle. Anyone have experience with them?

I got this about 5 years ago and have 1000 or so pellets through it. I gotta admit, I have a lot of fun with this. I live in the city, and know my local ordinance so I'm good. I've killed 100's of limb rats. No more chewing through my soffit, the lead off om my vent pipes (why would they do that?), getting in my attic and raising hell. If you get this one, get some quality rings, the scope is fine. It's finicky about hold and recoil, so when you sight it, support it in the palm of your hand while rested on a front bag. It is powerful, I think like 1200 fps, .22 cal. It will go clean through a sheet of OSB, and deep into the fence behind it. Get it set up, spend a weekend with it. Torque it properly and check your ring screws about every ten or shots your first hundred pellets. The manual will tell you that accuracy improves with shooting, and that is very true so don't judge it too quickly. I'm very happy with it, very accurate and gets the job done. [Linked Image]

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.
