Anyone shot any hogs with the 6mm ARC? If so, with what bullets and how well did it work?

Bill, might look over here, it's new enough that most haven't had a real chance to use it on deer.

There was a Facebook post from Stag Arms about one of their guys taking an Elk with one in 6mm ARC and one of their rifles. Haven't seen an article or any necropsy exam afterwards.

Hornady did a podcast about the 6 ARC a few weeks ago. Sounds like it might be a great cartridge.

Well, didn't they bring you the Juddmoor, white rimmed sunglasses and flatbill hats?

And possibly the Prius?

I’ve shot hogs with the 6 ARC and 6mm Grendel, nothing special here : my takeaways are -

6mm shines at high velocity : 243 Win / 6mm creedmore / etc

Getting high velocities out of the 6.5 grendel case just isn’t possible .

Even less so with a shoulder pushback : 6-ARC vs 243 LBC aka 6mm Grendel I.e. 6mm Predator

The brass case of these cartridges cannot handle the pressure and are therefore limited to the stated load data , which the given 6mm projectiles just don’t offer anything beyond the already popular 6.5 grendel , 6.8 SPC , or 300 Ham’r.

Believe me I’ve tried to make the 6mm work in the AR15 , I’ve tried all brass and it doesn’t go higher - I asked CMMG to chamber me a 6ARC with their powerbolt - much like another companies Super Bolt but they weren’t game so the project died right there.

I have a handful of 90 grain gamechangers loaded - if you show me the pigs I’ll show you the results…

What happened to the 243 WSSM? Looked like a mean little round but I never got to play with it. Wonder if it would have fit in a small frame

I believe these are made for AR15 lowers

The issue with these is limited mag capacity and consistent feeding.

What about deer or other thin skinned game? Still think it needs more velocity?

This would explain the easy on barrel comments by some.

I have always found the 25 DTi which is a 6.8 SPC case necked and improved to a 25 degree shoulder a solid performer on pigs and deer. It’s basically the 250 Savage Ballistics from an AR running 87/90 gr bullets at 3000 fps from a 18 inch barrel. The old Sierra 90 gr Gameking is great for this cartridge. You can’t get much heavier in bullet weight though as it takes up too much case capacity so 100gr is about max.
