Time for new tires on the SUV. Want a quiet tire as the Michelins that came on it are really loud on some surfaces, and they've only been 43K miles and are done treadwise. Mostly highway mileage. Thoughts?

Check out SimpleTire.com
They have noise ratings on all their tires and hard to beat their prices, if you do ship to store (NTB) you can save about $40-$50 mount and balance pre-paying through them.

Now driving Hercules Terra. Bought them in a pinch when a Goodyear blow out after only 20k miles. I was unsure about them but they have turned out to be excellent tires. Would buy them again. Certainly better than the Goodyears I had before.

My wife and I really like the Bridgestone Dueler LX, that’s what came on her Armada from the factory and we got about 55,000, could’ve prob gone to 65,000 but got a smoking deal on the new tires. Quiet and smooth

IMO it's Michelin and then everybody else. If the Michelin is noisy, it's the road surface and the lack of sound-deadening in the vehicle.

My wife has a 17 CR-V, about the same size as your Escape. It came with Bridgestone Ecopias, which were done at 26k miles-talk about a chitty tire. I let the sales guy talk me out of the Michelins that I wanted and into a Yokohama (they've made good tires for years, right?) in order to save 25%. BAD MISTAKE. They're wearing well but are noisier than I expected (sales guy said they were pretty quiet) and can be stiff on bumps. They're not all that bad but in hindsight I should have stuck with what I knew. I only gave him the benefit of the doubt because he's been there for years and in the past has been knowledgeable.

Also my preference by far.
