My son is an LEO and he, my grandson, and I went to Washington DC this weekend to attend an event that honored the over 600 officers who died in the line of duty last year. Very moving for sure. Then we got to see all of the amazing places. The first three pictures are from a tour we took of the White House and is the room where Thomas Jefferson planned the Lewis and Clark expedition. Then we we saw the Lincoln memorial, Viet Nam memorial, and finally the Ford Theater where Lincoln was assassinated. It was surreal to see the actual box seat where it happened - then we went across the street where they took him - 9 doctors ended up there and he died the next morning - got to see the actual derringer used to kill him along with the bed he died in. Amazing trip for sure

Nice place to visit but I don’t want to live there again….it was fun when I was 19….

Been there once when I was 10 years old. I remember it very well. So much history of this great country and those that preceded us.

the best part for me was getting to see my 11 year old grandson experience it all and my son and me getting to tell him about the history of each thing we saw -

Glad you got to experience National Police Week in DC. I don’t have the desire to attend that and relive some dark days. Too many names on that monument that I know.

Definitely a trip every American needs to take.

Stationed there twice. As home-schoolers, we've found there is no better place to educate your kids on American history. However, that place knows how to rip my soul out and stomp on it. I've found that I cannot drive to any place in the area without having to repent when I get there.
