Have these volunteers coming up on the edge of a hay meadow and don’t know whether to take out or leave them be.

Persimmon makes sense. They’re coming up in a small grove just North of a stock tank and there are a few persimmon trees a couple hundred yards from where they’re coming up.

Those are persimmon. Just cutting them down will NOT get rid of them. I would cut them and spray the stump with some strong herbicide.
If you don't get rid of them now there will be more next year. Very invasive and can survive a direct hit from a nuclear bomb.

1 part Remedy : 4 parts diesel

Kills any type of plant life. Including large trees.

I think I’ll just keep them and eliminate the non fruit bearers.
