I need to put my suppressors in a trust. I need a name who to contact to get this done. When I ask my financial people about it, they are not familiar with what I want to do.

Need the EZ method please.

Super straight forward, generally cheaper than hiring an attorney to do it for you. You can file all the additional paperwork to transfer items into the trust yourself (that's the way that'll go anyways)

I've always heard Chris Bass name come up for Dallas ATF Trusts. I did a little digging...looks like his number is 214-596-8314.

I had Jim do one for me. He was quick, answered all my questions, and was very helpful! Highly recommend!

Did mine via "The Trust Shop" website, no issues with the ATF when I used it for my cans.

Used National Gun Trusts. No matter what anyone says, all these gun trust lawyers and services are just using templates. They’ll “draw up” a personalized gun trust in minutes.

National Gun Trusts has several up to date videos on Youtube on how to use eforms. They also have great info on their website.

If you own them as an individual would you have to pay the $200 each to transfer to a trust?

That’s a good question and one I’d like to know the answer to… along with some others:

If I were to set one up as an individual, and then was to pass away… what happens to the item?

Can you do the new efile under a trust?

100% YES, you MUST repay the $200 PER ITEM to transfer from yourself into the trust. Think of that $200 as a transfer fee and you are transferring ownership from yourself to the trust. That's why I ALWAYS recommend a Trust to customers, even if its just them on it- you can add and remove people for free, but you cant add or remove items for free.

As far as death in the case of individual ownership, I believe that technically possession of the item reverts to ATF temporarily until the inheritor can do their own Form 4 on the item. I could be wrong on that. Been selling cans for 12 years and haven't looked into that one too much.

He set mine up with the wife and kiddo on my trust and they can legally take possession of all my goodies should I pass. It may have changed since then but mines set up this way. My understanding is if you set it up in just your name and you croak your toys go to the feds until the mess is figured out.

Personally I’d contact Chris and ask him about your concerns,

When done on an Individual Form 4, all you need to do is Will the items to someone. The transfer over to the beneficiary is free through the BATFE.
They cannot be in possession of the item / item's until the transfer is complete!

The executor of the estate holds them in their possession until the Form 5 is approved, right?

Chris did my trust ten years ago. I had to modify it this year to be compliant with new ATF rules. I paid $300 first time around and he wanted $150 to modify it. His rates are at least double what anyone else charges. I got mine modified for $50 and the new version seems to be a lot better in my opinion.

Just my two cents Chris was great ten years ago but there are better cheaper options now.

Your paying for his knowledge, you get what you pay for. I’m a firm believer in skipping the cheap run of the mill dumb asses of today’s times but if your a cheap skate and pinches penny’s then go with some guy that may or may not know what he’s doing. I can go to a discount store and get service but I can go to a pristine service store and get a superior service that I have 100% confidence in and they will be thr if I need them. Your talking about $100 difference that could possibly cost you legal fees and a nightmare of issues, it’s a cheap insurance policy as far as I’m concerned. He’s modified mine more than once for free, again if a hundred bucks means that much to you then maybe you shouldn’t be playing in the field of class 3 weapons.

The hundred bucks isn’t a deal breaker and I am not a cheapskate. Just because something costs more doesn’t mean it is better. I would argue that the people that did my revision do more gun trusts than Chris. They seemed more thorough and had more details. I am in no way saying Chris does a bad job but he uses a basic template like everyone else and just fills in your name so it isn’t like you are getting something special. When I got my first trust from him ten years ago he accidentally sent me someone else’s trust first. When he sent me the correct one they were identical except for the names being different. I have no problems paying for a service and paying more for great service but I just don’t think the added cost is worth it here. I have both trusts one from Chris and another from a different lawyer and I think the other one is much more detailed, clear, organized, and better.

Exactly. Lawyers are simply doing Find & Replace on a template as proven by your experience. Also, don't be fooled into thinking that just because you got your templated trust from a lawyer that if it ever comes into questioning that he's going to be by your side to fight the court. He'll charge you by the hour just like anyone else.

Yes, you will have to pay $200 per item for the Form 4 transfers, and you'll have to use paper Form 4s.

Chris did mine as well. No complaints. I will need a change one day when my minor can move from a beneficiary to a co-trustee. I think that’s stated correctly. He was 10 yrs old when I did it and now only 19. My brother is the adult co-trustee if something should happen to me now. Probably just leave all three of us on there in the case someone other than me wants to have cool stuff.

He can be a trustee at 19. You have to be 21 to buy but can posses at 18. I know this because I just did mine in the last month with my 18 yr old son as a full fledged trustee. He had to do the photos and fingerprints and all the jazz for silencershop.
