Rose Rosette Disease.

It’s terminal and spreads. There is no cure.

That sucks! I sure hope my rose bushes don't get that one.

We tried a couple of times to grow Rose bush's and they kept getting that crap, No Mas!

We lost 50 bushes to it. Our back yard used to be beautiful when they were in bloom.

Dug mine out and waited 8 months to replant. They got it again.

Not only is mite/virus carried by the wind it stays in the soil.

That’s sort of the problem with roses. Black spot.
If they don’t get a lot of moving air they develop fungus.

Sprays are available to control it.
I finally stopped planting them.

Try oleanders instead.

freeze will get the oleanders in north texas.

people plant their double knockouts too close together and dont let them grow to full size/ leave them alone. just deadhead them.

and most are just too dam wet/irrigated and fertilized with weed and feed from the yard

Seen that on a few of our now gone knockouts, didn't know what is was though. Took a couple of years, but finally turned pdq.

Wade, if that is what it is, I'd bag'em and remove ones with sign before it spreads, if it hasn't already

Any rose you try to plant from now on will get it.

Are you talking about the red leaves? That’s just sucker growth. Cut them at the base.
Trim knockouts all the way back to the woody stem in February. Leaves plenty of room for air to circulate.
I don’t have issues with them.

Oleanders are poisonous…..and they don’t like cold.

Also water at the base with drip irrigation….not overhead.

We dug ours out last summer, we had those worms that build a leaf funnel looking thing. I want way lower maintenance than they require.

These knockout roses are some of the easiest things to grow. I’ve given them no water and they have gone from 1.5 foot tall stumps to 4.5 foot tall fully bloomed out this year. Other than a quick spray with bug repellent for those sack worms you speak of, I haven’t done anything.

Yes, there are other plants that are extremely low maintenance, but none of them will put off the flower of knockout roses.

This is correct. They will continue to bloom but also decline at the same time. Pull them when you can not stand to look at them any more.
