I know many of you don’t care and feel like this press is stupid. You are the same people who talked smack when I was winning competitions with a good rifle, Lee press and Lee dies. So feel free to comment either way. This morning I ran 2 pieces of brass and rotated the press through all 9 stations in between to check repeatability. Size, rotate, seat, rotate. #1 #2 While less than perfect I’m going to call this good repeatability. Damn cheap calipers can be off that much.

Overall, how do you like the press? I've thought about buying one.

I think it’s very accurate so far. It’s not as smooth as the rockchucker but it’s tighter. I’m sure proper lubrication will eliminate the rough spots. I accept that tighter tolerances require lubrication plus cleanliness. As to that I will follow up after break in.
As for use the ram is very close to the frame which doesn’t allow you to fully control the brass and bullet as you seat the bullet. I’m sure that that’s a learning curve that I haven’t reached yet so it may not be relevant.
It’s pretty for sure. And accurate. For now slower than anything I own because of the clearance, then again, I’m trying to operate it on my left side instead of my right. I haven’t secured it yet, still using C clamps. I may use it on the right if I can’t overcome it but I want it opposite the chucker.
I hope to put it against the T7 soon, I think that will be telling. That should be apples to apples.
Did I mention it was sexy.

Did I mention it was sexy. Now u just made this whole experiment really creepy! Thanks for posting the results. I like real world data, regardless the size of sample set. Question: this load you are showing, is it a compressed load? That's the one where I get annoyed as to how inconsistent my seating depth is on my set up.

Personally I don’t think they are stupid at all, super nice piece of equipment. Would love to own one, I think the runout is very small contributor compared to say ignition and would probably invest in a autotrickler before the press, especially if I was already using the rock chucker or Redding…etc..
I do believe in buy once cry once, I will probably have one one day dedicated to rifle rounds.
Very nice!

Can't spend the money on some American Made Starrett calipers though.

Those calipers look like the kind they have ordered at work 30 bucks a piece. Hope they calibrate and last longer than a week.

In my weak defense, I sat on my calipers a few weeks ago and picked these up cheap because Buzz keeps threatening me with some Mitutoyo at the next match. The most important part of this story is, don’t put your calipers in your back pocket if you’re a fat kid.

DO NOT drop them on concrete either. I did that to one of my Starrett calipers. I sent then to Starrett and they came back refreshed. Had to pay them for it too.

I still use my 1970’s vintage Brown Sharpe analog dial more than I use my digital. The digital are handier for checking case dimensions.

Yes I do have the Mitutoyo's I'll sell and a brand new set of digitals too.

There wasn’t a deal that I recall. You had some dial mitutoyos that you didn’t like, I said I’d buy them, you said you’d bring them to the next match. Just a conversation. No deal made.

Like your style WP. Doing your own thing and working stuff out, rather than hanging on to a teat to keep up with one of the bell cows.

If anyone is wondering the rings are 1.68. They’re probably advertised as 1.75.

Very nice! I bought the Matchmaster since it was available. Almost as good but not quite.

The press is much better for me on the right side.
FL sizing new Lapua brass bumps the shoulder back .001 from what it is originally.
The handle on this press is way way too long at full length. There is no resistance when engaging the brass and you look like you’re waving in an airplane. I shortened it by 4” and it’s about right. Just enough resistance to feel if something is different. The handle is now 1” longer than the handle on the chucker.
