Early next week I’ll have that new scoped 6.5 Grendel AR and and some ammo. But eventually I’ll need to reload for it. After a search of the powders I have on hand, it would appear that BL-C(2) should work under 100 gr Nosler BTs and 120 and 123 gr bullets. Of the other powders I have on hand, like A2230 (not enough left) and H335, they are for the 223. I do have a good bit of IMR 3031 also.

So, my on-hand choices are BL-C(2) and 3031. I’ll probably use the former. Any use history you can share?

Based on my experience, you can't go wrong with any of the following powders; AA2520, AR Comp, IMR 8208 XBR, I have had good luck with X-Terminator / 2230 for 100gr projectiles. I mainly focus on Nosler and some Hornady projectiles for my Grendel. By far Nosler shoots the best and is easiest to develop loads for. This hunting season I developed a very accurate 120 gold dot load using AA2520 and steel cased Wolf that I pulled the projectiles and powder out of. Got tired of losing brass cases in the field.

I have only performed one OCW with BLC using 129gr hornady Spire Point but have never done anything with it. Velocity was a little low compared to other powders I listed. 29.3 was max at a little under 2300fps. Same projectile with AR Comp was pushing 2350.

Alexander Arms has a load published using BLC and 120 Nosler BT.
Western Powders has some published load data for the 2230 and 100 gr NBT.

Your best powder you have listed in H335 and should work just fine for 100gr - 123 gr projectiles. I have not seen any reports using 3031.

Saw your thread in trying to decide which caliber. You have made the correct choice believe me. Your well on your way.

Thanks for the info. Yes, there are great powders for the Grendel, but getting them seems almost impossible these days. I’ll have to give the BL-C(2) a try. It should work Ok till I can find something better.

There is a small forum dedicated to the Grendel that has data for lots combinations on it. Best search engine on it is at https://www.65grendel.com/forum/showthread.php?18468-Grendel-Forum-Custom-Search-Engine. Search on BL- or BLC and 3031 and you will find some data there. H4895 is also a very good powder for the Grendel

I have not used either of those, most of my loading for the Grendel has been with CFE223 and 130 class bullets.

There are 2 Grendel specific reloading books from the days when data was only available from Alexander a small group did that are pretty good and a lot of that data was pressure tested by one of those guys. Those are available from https://www.ar15buildbox.com/shop/c/p/65-Grendel-Reloading-Handbook-Combo-Volumes-1-2-x9555123.htm

I have tried almost all powders and bullet combinations I could find for my 6.5 Grendel. In the end of all my testing I settled on LEVERevolution powder and Hornady 123gr SST. I get sub .5 MOA groups and SD's in the single digits. Produces 2,550 fps out of an 18" barrel. It has dropped Antelope, Whitetail, Mule Deer, Coyotes, Prairie Dogs, and several Hogs.

In my rifles CFE223 was the accuracy and velocity king for the Grendel, with H4895 a close second. The CFE-223 was typically 100-150 fps faster than H4895 for any given bullet weight.

I am running AR-Comp and a 120g speer gold dot. It’s really really accurate. The 8208xbr was in second place but could not touch the arcomp
