So far it's 3 fires, 15,000+ acres and 150 homes lost. Super dry up here and the worst winds I've ever seen in 30 years. Most of the town is in emergency status, without power due to tree's blowing down and poles snapping. Main road going to to the Inn was blocked with a pole and lines down. Winds are starting to calm down but they're still high and changing directions. We're leaving in the morning.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

What areas lost the homes? I have a good buddy with a home in White Mountain Meadows.

Fire officials say those who live in Eagle Creek, Homestead Acres, Rancho Ruidoso Valley Estates, Old Fort Stanton Road, Airport Road, Moon Mountain, Gavilan Canyon, Hull Road and Paradise Canyon are under mandatory evacuation orders. Officials say more evacuations are still possible.

East side of Ruidoso got hit hard. Ruidoso north of Ruidoso High School. This includes Gavilan Canyon Road, Homestead Loop, Eagle Creek, Blue Lake Drive, Mira Monte Rd., East of Fort Stanton Rd.
Power out for most of the area. Fire moving to the north mostly a scattered residential area.

They evacuated the area behind McDonalds. Also heard that they are evacuating the hospital.
This is right near the main intersection in town, Sudderth and Hwy70.
The fire is about half a mile from my daughters place. They are no longer preparing to evacuate, they are prepared.

Ya'll stay safe...  we been having high winds last several days.. Last week it hit around 50mph..  not sure what it twas yesterday... Road the wind going ta work...  good gas milage... Bucked it on way home...  mind twas so bad, blazer blowing all over d road. had ta stop & down a pint so i coulds be insink ... Here it can be windy one day calm d next. -30° one day, 30°above the next... Wind & fire dont play to good tagether...

Winds are supposed to be moderate today out of the north. Hopefully it blows the fire back on the burned ground and helps get it under control…
