It must really suck because kids were making fun of other kids that shopped at Kmart ( clothes)in the early 80’s

Slightly off but does anybody remember ISS (International Super Stores)...the one on 183 in Irving back in the 60's seemed like a forerunner of the modern Sam's or Costco but I don't think it lasted very long...

I never liked Kmart.
I did have a buddy that had a thing for fat chics. When one would walk in the bar one of us would always call his attention to the “Blue light special taking up all of isle one.”

Really enjoyed K-marts. I would head straight to the back of the store. Usually a fairly descent sized sporting good section. They had lay a way which was cool if you wanted to pay things off without a credit card.

I bought my first hunting rifle (Remington 700 ADL .30-06) at the Kmart in Huntsville. Rifle, 3-9x32 Japanese Tasco scope, Weaver rings and bases, and got change back from 300 bucks.

P.S. And that blue police light at the front of the store. grin

Growing up in Lewisville we had a KMart in the bad part of town and a Gibson's too. Walmart was 1/5 the size of the "new" one built in the 1990's. My first few years of life in the Houston area we had TG&Y. Don't forget Handy Dan.

Pass the gravy.

I remember TG&Y, affectionately known as Toys, Guns, and Yoyos lol.

Hanging on the wall of my guest room is a 2 gun rack. One of those is my first firearm. A single shot .410 I convinced my dad to buy for me at age 12. It was on sale at KMart for $19.99 and I ended up taking lots of squirrels and rabbits with it.

I also have a Japanese made machete that was purchased at KMart. All of my neighborhood buddies had one and we would cut down small pine trees to build forts in the woods.

Great Kmart memories.
