I PURCHASED A MOULTRIE M-550 MODEL MCG-12630 CAMERA FROM GOODWILL AUCTIONS BUT IT IS LOCKED WITH A SECURITY CODE. MOULTRIE GAVE ME THE METHOD TO RETRIEVE THE CAMERA ALPHA/NUMERIC NUMBER ( PRESS MENU BUTTON TWICE, THEN PRESS UP BUTTON THEN DOWN BUTTON, THE PRESS MENU BUTTON TWICE THEN PRESS "OK" BUTTON AND THE NUMBER WILL APPEAR) HOWEVER, ON THIS CAMERA THE "MENU BUTTON DOES'T SEEM TO WORK SO THE METHOD WON'T WORK. IF ANYONE HAS A MOULTRIE M-550 ( THE FIRST GENERATION NOT GEN 2) AND CAN USE THAT METHOD TO BRING UP THE NUMBER AND MESSAGE OR POST THE NUMBER, MOULTRIE WILL USE IT TO TELL ME HOW TO UNLOCK THE CAMERA. Moultrie Security Codes are 5 digits. The alpha/numeric number is usually about 10 digits/characters. I have done this on several different model Moultrie Cameras as this is the procedure Moultrie requires to give you the "unlock" security code. Each model Moultrie camera has its own alpha/numeric number therefore you can't use the code from an M-888 for an M-550. Only a code from an original M-550 (not Gen 2) will work. By the way, there are 99,999 possible combinations for a 5 digit security code so trying to guess is impossible. All I need is for someone who owns a Moultrie M-550 to use the procedure to retrieve the alpha/numeric number on their camera and I can use that. Thanks for your reply

I have tried that, thanks. Also 11111, 22222, 33333, etc. There are 99,999 possible combinations, impossible to try all of them. The only way to retrieve the security code is to supply Moultrie with the 10 character camera internal code by using the method I posted but the "menu" button on my camera isn't functioning correctly so I need someone with a Moultrie M-550 to use that method to retrieve the number from their camera and give it to me on "reply" or private message. thanks

Pretty sure the cam you have is close to 10 years old. Lot's of improvements in this space since that one was released. I'd be surprised if there are many Gen 2's still in action today, much less the Gen 1. I'd be looking at something a bit newer.

Thanks Sooner! I am aware of the age. I have many newer cameras but this model, though old, is reliable and was cheap from Goodwill. Though I don't use them, I have several of the original Moultrie game cameras that still function - outdated technology - but shows Moultrie builds some pretty good cameras. I have a few Wildgame Innovations, but of the 30 or so cameras I have, the majority are Moultrie. Thanks again.

Thanks P&Y- I have tried all of those and all of the other obvious combos, like 11111 etc. What I need is to get the unique digital code from an M-550 that has a security code, regardless of what that is, then I can contact Moultrie and they can give me the release code for the camera. Thanks
