Purina Pro Plan Sport here for our GSP. Wife buys it online from both Chewy and Amazon. It's $68 for a 50# bag.

Has anyone had problems with Science Diet? Our vet recommended it, (maybe because that what he sells), but dogs seem to be scratching more.
I used it for about a month without any issues. Only reason I bought it was because Petsmart decided to support Black Lives Matter so I went to a local pet shop to buy my food and they didnt have what I wanted so I bought the Science Diet. No issues with it though.

Old school here, my two ankle biters get a half can each of Alpo lamb and rice in the evening and kibbles and bits mini free choice. The wife picked up some of the Rachel Ray nutrish (sp) and they seem to like it.

My dogs get pro plan. But I can order it from my distributor a little less than retail.
When I was in school, Hill's and purina each gave us like 2 bags a month of whatever we wanted from them.
When I recommend feeds, I tend to recommend Hills, Purina, or Royal Canin. All three make very high quality food and specialty food for allergies, GI problems, etc.
That said, I've seen many a dog live a long, happy life eating Alpo and ol' roy. It really just depends on the dog, it's life style, and health status.
Feed what you can afford. Just stay FAR FAR AWAY from the grain free diets. Why stay away from grain free diets Heart failure issues in some breeds I believe. Yep did a little research after I popped off and asked that question, problem is so many supposed authorities disagree on the possible heart issue. Did some research on the food we feed our mutt, Taste of The Wild's "Pacific Stream" and it has a whole lot of stuff in it, hope thats a good thing! Ingredients Salmon, ocean fish meal, sweet potatoes, potatoes, peas, canola oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), lentils, salmon meal, smoked salmon, tomato pomace, natural flavor, salt, choline chloride, taurine, dried chicory root, tomatoes, blueberries, raspberries, yucca schidigera extract, dried Lactobacillus plantarum fermentation product, dried Bacillus subtilis fermentation product, dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product, dried Bifidobacterium animalis fermentation product, vitamin E supplement, iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, thiamine mononitrate, manganese proteinate, ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, biotin, niacin, calcium pantothenate, sodium selenite, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin B12 supplement, riboflavin, vitamin D3 supplement, folic acid. Contains a source of live (viable), naturally occurring microorganisms. Here's a LINK to the most recent article I could find on it from a reputable source. We don't fully understand the cause and effect of it, but there is definitely a correlation between grain free/boutique type diets and dilated cardiomyopathy in breeds that we don't typically see it in. Until we fully understand the issue, its best (in my mind) to avoid grain free.

Finally figured out Bella has allergies to chicken, one of those allergies that develop over time, I feed her a mix right now of Gentle Giant beef and pork, mixed with Firstmate lamb and oatmeal.

I just switched to this one. Pointer stopped eating the former brand. So far, so good.

Purina pro plan large breed chicken and rice......the chesapeake loves it, without any issue. Here recently the 47lb bag went from around $68 to $77 via chewy. May need to start shopping. Four years ago it was $50 for a 47lb bag.
