My thoughts as well. I'm working nights. Kids found it, dog killed it. My wife doesn't want to get near it and I'm trying to convince her that she needs to dispose of the carcass.

I’ve had them chase me down on land and water. Death to cottonmouths. +2 especially springtime - spoiling for a fight... If it was aggressive and or “chasing” you there is about a 99% chance it was a water snake. Not a water moccasin…
