The GS took the AR 223 with him last evening, in the search for the big hog. The expectation, and hope, was that the hog would come to the feeder and feeder light. He never approached the feeder, but was in the open and in the moonlight. The GS could see him the the moonlight, and he later said that the scope, at lowest setting of illumination, was perfect. He fired 4 times and hit the pig 3 times (once was the ear, but that counts).

The Athlon scope is working out very well, if any of you are considering one. Pig weighed 180. The bullet used was the 63 gr Sierra SMP at about 2700 fps.

He got the pig! Awesome! Congrats. Nice when a plan comes together.

Congrats. Gotta love a scope you can do that with. Killed one with moonlight using a non iluminated scope could not see cross hairs on the boar but could see them aganst the grass around him. Lined up for high shoulder shot and dropped him.
