We have a CenturyLink security system (bundled with phone, internet) and I needed somebody to come out and fix what needed fixing, most of which was minor. So I called them, and called them, and waited on hold, and got disconnected twice, and had an altogether unpleasant time. Took a bit over 2 hours to get nowhere. Finally I got a human and had what I thought was a good clear discussion, and a time for a service tech today. He showed up and was ready to fix my internet, which wasn’t needing fixing. He quickly understood the real problem, the security system, and gave me a number to call, which was the number (one of them) that I had called yesterday, which resulted in nothing useful. I said that I could not find a number that got me to security service, so was stalled. He thought a minute and said to shut the door, arm the system, and then open the door. I did that, and all sorts of alarm noise began, and then the phone rang and somebody from the security system asked if all was well. And…just like that, I had reached those elusive security system folks. So simple. It never occurred to me to do that.

Hate CenturyLink (now Lumen) with a passion. Some of the worst customer service on the planet.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I went with SimpliSafe, did it myself. Could not be happier. CS / Tech support is easy and reliable.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

I’ve never had any serious issues dealing with CenturyLink when it came to phone and internet service. It’s just that home security part of the contract. I swear, it seemed like nobody I talked to even knew they had a security service. I thought maybe they discontinued the whole thing and nobody told me, and we’ve been paying for nothing.
Over a few years, I was having my internet connection dropping out. It happened too often. It was the modem. I’d call them and they’d send a new modem that was the same as the dead one. Finally I did a little research on what other modems they offered and which ones were good. I called them and told them which one I specifically wanted. Got it, installed, and it’s been great.
I use CenturyLink because that is my only option that isn’t a satellite type deal. Don’t want no stinking satellite internet service ever again.
