My father-in-law died last night, actually, in the wee hours of this morning. I was on watch, just him and me. 'Watched his chest, off and on, for hours...got up to take a leak, laid back down, drifted off and woke to the nurse saying "I'm gonna get my stethoscope." (Hospice.) I'm glad it was on my turn, as I've experienced this final part of someone's life on earth a few times before and I'm glad my family was away resting.

Born in Waco, 1937; ate up with hunting his whole life, although, he never had the means to go very much, or very far. Devout Christian and a HUGE Mason. (I don't know what degree he was, but he instructed guys for as long as I've known him and it was a big part of his life.) He is home now and without pain. He showed my two girls (and me) nothing but love and acceptance during an obviously bewildering time for two little girls, when I dated and then married his baby girl, going on 30 years ago. I had my problems with him, but no blow ups, no knock-down-drag-outs, and he was the last man older than me in the family that I could at least vent to when something stressful happened to me in the family. (We commiserated about son-in-laws...on more than one occassion. laugh )

Best pistol shot I've ever personally been around. 'Dude was incredible, when he could still see decent. He would have loved this place, if I'd ever been able to convince his stubborn azz to even SIT in front of computer. bang We've talked hunting, and guns, and told each other dirty jokes for incalculable hours.

Adios Lee. I'll see you again soon enough.

angel People seem to know who can handle the situation best and usually wait until all that can't handle it to be away.
