What an odd season. No ducks no ducks and then no ducks. For 20 years I have lived on the San Bernard river. I could always count on at least 100 wood ducks flying tree top high up and down the river. This year was a bust. No ducks, nada. Last night were sitting in the deer blind on the river waiting for a hog to show up at the feeder. While it is still cool out I want to make 100 lbs of boudin. I like half wild hog, if they are 100 lbs on the hoof, and the rest pork butt. So my deer stand is my old duck blind built on the 14 foot flatbed trailer. I don't have a duck lease right now so I just parked it on the house side of the river and the feeder is across the river. The pigs don't like coming on my side of the river unless it is after midnight. Anyhow, we could just look up and see the wolf packs of woodies flying the river. One group had over 20 in it. maybe next year will be a little different.

Sadly I have to say the days of the snow goose plow downs are finished in Texas. I am scrambling to get to a retirement so there is no time for me to go find them in Arkansas. When I do pull the trigger on retirement, them white devils are going to pay.

I'm glad you feel that way about snow goose hunting in Texas wal1809, less competition! lol.
ScrapIron - any time we can go double digit, I consider it a victory. Nice hunt.

Duck season was the slowest I have ever seen it. I’ve been doing some training with the dogs for the last 3 weeks. One of the ponds is now full of ducks. I can even hear them having a good time, when I’m 100 yards away.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.
