Post here what you are looking for/willing to pay/ location. Whenever someone is in the store they can scroll through and if it is there buy it and get it to you.
Or is this a bad idea??

The cost of shipping and the legal hassle(of shipping) would kill any savings
Now if you set it up where you could post it to a specific metro area, then you could meet FTF for the exchange, that would be desirable

I did say location in my post, maybe it should have been more clear. I agree with the hassle and expense of shipping not really worth it.
It just seems that what stores get has no rhyme or reason.

We were in Atwoods in Jacksonvile & Academy in Tyler today...I bought cleaning supplies in Atwoods that I have never seen before...and they had some ammo too but I wasn't hunting ammo. Academy had lots of cleaning supplies that I had not seen there before and some ammo...lot of 308 & 223 kinda stuff. Manana I'll start on the Marlin 270's issues and we'll see where that goes.
Oh we went down the dirt trail from Hwy 79 to the iron gate at Neches NWR on the way over...about a half mile+ off pavement....this is gonna be fun 'cause it could get really spooky really fast in these Deep Woods. It just seems that what stores get has no rhyme or reason. My point was, you need a separate thread for the major metro areas to avoid sifting thru one post looking for ammo in your area. Not just a location in a single thread.

I've noticed ammo showing available on the Academy website for online order (with store pickup) that hasn't appeared on store shelves in months. I'm guessing it's stock being kept in the storeroom for gun purchases that has somehow leaked into order availability but for store pickup only (no ship to home).
First select the ammo you want to check stock to see if it's available at your "My Store" location. If not, click on change store and select the option to only show stores where it's available (including online order for store pickup). Of course, this applies more to those who live in areas with multiple stores within driving distance.

Of course, this applies more to those who live in areas with multiple stores within driving distance. Just as a follow up to my earlier post, I had noticed for several days now that a local Academy showed stock availability of Winchester Deer Season XP 6.5 Creedmoor ammo. My two Savage rifles love this load and I can't remember the last time I've seen it on store shelves. Knowing that a friend told me to pick up any 6.5 Creedmoor ammo I happened across, I decided to place an online order just to see if it would actually be in stock at the store, much less ready for pickup. I received an email confirming my order this afternoon at 1:58pm. Now to be honest, I was expecting to be told at the store there was some kind of mistake with my order. At 2:18pm (or about 20 minutes later) while making the drive, I received another email that my order was ready for pickup. The final email that confirmed I picked up my order came in at 2:40pm or roughly 42 minutes after placing the order. Yes, I was impressed.

Remington Core Lokt 7mm Remington Magnum 175gr. I will take a couple of boxes or even a whole case. Willing to drive some distance for a whole case, otherwise lets keep it in the Dallas county area.

I wish the gun liked something else but havent seen a load yet that will out shoot the 175 in that gun.

I talked to the Remington rep today at the Western Hunting Expo in Salt Lake City, about shortages and what they are running. Had the good fortune to actually be one of the Ammunition Plant managers. Said we should be seeing a lot of the Core-Lok stuff hitting the shelves more frequently. The one million sq ft plant is fully up and running 24/7/365. I asked specifically about 6MM Remington, and he said he knew personally that they were running 257 Roberts last week, and as it is the parent case of the 6MM, we should be seeing them also. He laughed and said for the less popular or obsolete cartridges, they may only run 100,000 at a time. whereas they have run 100 MILLION 308's!!

Every American should own at least one rifle in .223 Rem, or 5.56mm, or .223 Wylde. And another rifle in .308 Win.
Even if you don't buy ammo, you can usually get the parts to build your own. And both of them run on a long list of powders.
